  1. does anyone have a number or contact info for ray small as id like a sprocket access plate, regards dan
  2. yep a mix up on my part, didnt make it though,my little boy was poorly,so next week will be first trial, hopefully
  3. well tomorow is the big day my first trial, think ive done all i can do to be ready doubt ill sleep much tonight, nervous and excited at the same time, bring it on,wish me luck in my baptism of fire.
  4. well ive taken some measurements and believe its got the r cam in,which is a added bonus tappets now set to 2 and 4 thou, hopefully thats right from what i can read on here, digital vernier and a ruler, its far closer to the lift expected with a r cam installed, than with a standard cam, seems a lot better and cleaner reving now so hopefully ive got it right now.
  5. well its an electrex world ignition with no machining done on the inner case, think ill sort that over winter, had a clean up and it seems to be running better, anyone know how i can find out what cam is in the bike as mentioned before dan
  6. yes hopefully see you there pierre, youll recognize me as the idiot careering around with no control whatsoever lol, thats if i can get all the bits a pieces sorted before sunday,im sure i will,im getting lots of help so far Dan
  7. smiths farm, withcall. ive got an interesting misfire now,the tappets are set at 10thou ,the plug at 23 thou, not checked the timing yet, doing it tonight hopefull, any tips gratefully accepted,as its a pvl electronic,i think. also wondered if theres an easy way to check which cam is in the bike, could be standard or the r type cam,the bike is new to me and i dont want to have to strip it to find out,im presuming the r type has a different lift to standard, can i place a dti on the tappet and measure to find out? dan
  8. what sort of gauge are you using for the likes of swingarm as im contemplating making a titanium swing arm for my cub Dan
  9. got an interesting miss fire, tappets set to 10 thou, plug to 25 thou, timing to check tonight hopefully, dont know whats going on
  10. smiths farm,withcall
  11. in the garage again tonight, tappets set runs a bit better but still bogging down under fast throttle, more investigation needed i think, but think itll have to wait a while,i think ive upset the missus enough for a while, and frst tial a week today!!!!! thats come around a bit quic, wish me luck folksi
  12. well i finally managed to get in the garage tonight and solder the end nipple onto the clutch cable tonight, works a treat doesnt even drag any more so thats a bonus. i hear i need to seal up the scavenge hole in the primary side and seal the clutch cable entry points old and new and theres an easy mod to primary case to do so any oil and water can be drained easily, swing arm next i think a lot of measuring and fabrication, think i am just going to scallop the sides(for clearance)and get some slugs and plates made up to lengthen by 25 mm.lets see how that goes next week, wish me luck folks,so far it ows me for a clutch cable and thats it so far
  13. well the clutch cable arrived last night, unfortunately from what i can gather the levers on an original cub must have had a smaller nipple hole, than on newer replacement levers and as such doesnt fit,new cable ordered get that fitted and see how the mods have worked, pretty sure im gonna have to strip the clutch as it was dragging originally, but thats no biggy, ill try and get some pics up as soon as possible.
  14. I realise that its all possible and aim to do all the work myself, could you point me in the direction of the pre65 forum,as computers arent as strong a point as my fabrication skillls lol
  15. totalshell,i got outbid unfortunately,so plan b now, alter the existing, cant be that hard, thats one advantage of working for a large military aircraft company lots of machines and stuff to play with lol
  16. how would it affect club elegibilty, most run different classes,ie specials, and at the end of the day its a bit of fun for me on a sunday, dont think ill be at all competitive at first to be honest,as its my first off road bike in 28 yrs,lol
  17. would it be possible to scollop out both arms and plate up with a thicker plate to get clearance for the tyre. Then to lengthen it remove the axle plates off the end of the arm,get some 25mm longer slugs to fit in the arm and extend out by 25 mm then reweld new lugs onto the ends,a bit like the armac swing arm spindle lugs? does that sound feasable, any pitfalls, problems any one can see Dan
  18. Surely the big draw to a trials event is the fun,i dont really see what difference a pre65 standard and a pre65 altered is really going to make surely it adds to the thrill of the day,and i think at the end of the day a lot of it is to do with riders skill. Im new to this and only attended a few trials and there seemed to be all sorts of classes and different bikes all competing together, surely thats what its all about. My first trial is on the 6th of may so i guess ill find out,but to me its all about the fub of it all,the preparation of the bike is personal preference,i like tinkering so i will,as long as i can compete.
  19. thanks totalshell, thats my thoughts too,im bidding on the e-bay item at mo,gonna use a offset front sprocket, and offset the rear cog to suit and leave everything else in the c/line of the bike then shim to suit, and use a 4.00 rear tyre, that should give me all the clearance i need, then have a good look at the clutch make sure its all set up properly, then a good look at the tappets carb and timing as it seems to be bogging down a bit, although its got a electronic kit on it,hopefully have it all sorted by the 6th may
  20. after reading a lot of posts on here about lightening a cub clutch ive tonight lengthened the actuator lever on mine added a strengthening bar to it,and it works. Just waiting for a new clutch cable then im gonna drill the inner case to reposition the cable, and all should be sorted. The next job is to attach a engine breather but where does the end of the pipe on the engine breather run to,any help would be greatly appreciated. Another job is going to be fitting a wider swing arm,i love this hobby already. First trial on the 6th of may cant wait now.
  21. can you offset the engine to the left and use a spacer ring to move the chain ring on the rear to suit, this would then keep everthing in line even the wheel would be kept on the c/l of the bike as far as i can see,the rear sprocket would have to be machined so the rear brake would fit inside i guess though, then everthing shimmed to suit, hopefully, regards dan
  22. cheers total ill have a look today see what i can see regards Dan Mark im picking it up tomorow your welcome to come and have a look on tuesday night if your not too busy
  23. ive just bought my first trials bike a triumph cub,but it looks to me like it needs a wider swing arm sorting for it,does anyone have any drawings or dimensions for either making a new swing arm or modifying the original one,and does the engine have to be moved to the left to accomodate a 4.00 inch tyre so the chain runs true without catching the chain? any info would be greatly appreciated as i need to get cracking as soon as possible thanks in advance Dan
