  1. bump. This bike looks absolutely ideal on paper. Any real-world feedback would be great. I wish I had the chance to throw my leg over one. I've got a couple questions for those who have ridden these. Is it more like a trials bike with a seat (like the Ossa Explorer), or is it more of a trail-bike with trials influences (like a KTM freeride 350)? What's the suspension like? Trials suspension, or more of a trail suspension? What's the gearing like? Big gap between 3rd and 4th? Fuel range? How many miles can you get out of a tank? THanks!
  2. FWIW, I started a forum today for utah and nearby trials riders. Everyone is welcome to join: http://utahmototrials.forumotion.com
  3. Thanks TK. I'm on the wta listserv, and the facebook page, but I don't facebook much. Maybe I need to check that more frequently.
  4. I'm not invited to the family reuinions, so I need a discussion group to stay in the loop.
  5. I'm planning on riding the Hanging Tree Jeep trail in Ephraim this Saturday if anyone wants to join me. Oh, and I'm looking for some size 9 boots if anyone's got any.
  6. I think we have a great trials scene here in Utah. We have a great club, great events, and a great listserv, but I was hoping to find a discussion board somewhere for utah trials, but I can't find one. Maybe if we had our own thread here we wouldn't have to worry about that. Post up if you live in Utah and you ride trials.
  7. dragging this up from the dead. Do they let us ride out at the park?
  8. I've just got to dig this up from the grave to say BRAVO, well done. I'll be building a similar style tank and a bigger seat. I completely understand they types of trails you ride and as much fun as that KTM has got to be, there are several trails I ride that I would much rather have the gas gas.
  9. Even if I had the money, I think $7k is way too much for a bike, so I'm not saving up for an Ossa Explorer. I'm looking for something close in my price range.
  10. Ok, I've got my eye on a 1990 aprilia climber 280. It needs a stator, but other than that it's in rideable condition. The price is right. I'm just not sure if I can make it feel like a regular dirt bike, or if it'll still feel like a trials bike. I like the torquey motor and the weight. I'm looking for a bike I can still hang with my buddies on their wr450s in the singletrack. I realize it'll never be a desert blaster, I just want a good all-around bike that's light. I know I know, I want it all in one package, but I'm convinced I can get close.
  11. I like the idea of an aprilia. Are parts tough to come by? Did all climbers come with the rotax motor, or only certain years? Any scary things to look out for?
  12. I had a serrow. Cool bike. pretty heavy, but decent on the trails and the street. I wouldn't mind another one.
  13. why is it painful? Lack of rear wheel travel? I'm struggling to find a decent trail bike that doesn't weigh a ton and handle like a freight train. I'm thinking something along the likes of the new ossa explorer, only vintage because I can't afford an explorer right now.
  14. I currently ride an '04 Gas Gas Raga for trials, but I'm wanting something for the longer trail rides with my buddies on their modern KTMs. Where I live, we have lots of steep, technical singletrack. My Gas Gas can handle it just fine, but it's almost too easy on that bike. Looking for a great lightweight trail bike. I was leaning towards a TY or a reflex, but I'd love to hear some other options. Street legal is a plus, but not a must. I do not plan on competing with it, just looking for a reliable, fun bike to trail ride around here.
