  1. I practice and compete on knackered tyres! True Yorkshire man!
  2. Thanks for the input guys!! I ended up buying a 2006 Sherco 250cc, so hopefully it will see me okay! I'll be joining the Richmond & Darlington Clubs so I'll see you local guys there - I'll be the one with my foot on the ground!!
  3. Thanks, didn't know ag bikes existed. I wouldn't care but i was in Reeth yesterday and it would have been perfect just to drop in for a look. Many thanks!!
  4. Thats for the help! What I've found with the bit of looking I've done: Gassers: Great bikes but can need a bit of maintenance and gear boxes are sometimes a regular fault with them. Shouldn't put me off getting one, but It has. Beta: Good solid bike but can be a little heavier than Gasser/Sherco but will survive more knocks than the others would. Sherco: Bit inbetween the Gasser and Beta. I think I'm still swaying towards the Sherco. Mainly just beacuse I think they look better and there is nothing really in it between all the bikes (just depends on the individual riding styles). I'm watching a couple of Sherco 250s on ebay so but if I don't win them I may also look at a Beta. Prefer the Beta 2006 plastics than the 2007 (not keen on red bikes) but colour and looks isn't my main priority so we'll see what happens!!
  5. Hi, I haven't done trials riding for about 10 years but am looking to start again. I have a budget of £1700 and looking to buy a new bike. I've had Gassers and Beta's in the past (preffered Beta) but the bikes have changed a lot since I last rode them. With the budget I've got it looks like a 2006 is probably the best year I can get (poss. 2007). I don't fancy a Gasser as I've heard they can take a bit more to maintain. I have been swaying more to a 250 Sherco - Just because there seems to be more for sale and look like a nice bike. The Beta's don't look as if they have a big dip in the seat, but think this is just the rear mud guard design giving this appearance. Anyway, I'm would like something that's easy to ride and won't let me down... Any advice? P.S. am I also correct to stay clear of the 290 Sherco as I've heard these can be a bit harsh round tight technical bits? Thanks very much in advance for your help!!
