  1. Wow, I didn't realise it was that long ago I had these problems. I replaced the black box, new from gas gas, and it still didn't start. So what else could it be? Compression good, fuel good, spark good.... Then a chat with a friend over a couple of beers... And have you changed the reeds? No... So a quick trip to gas gas new reeds and a rebuild later and it runs...... Looking at the reeds side by side the old ones are slightly curled and have the centre venturi missing. So a big thanks to all that offered advice and if anybody has any problems don't call me.... No drop me a line it could save you time and money....
  2. Well TNT found the stator, it's had the rewind and guess what it still won't start not even a splutter... I've tried another coil but no joy, does anybody know if you can still get the little black box?
  3. Took the stator off, parcelled it, TNT collected Thursday, and have lost it.... If I was in a marching band...... I'd get the grand piano......
  4. Checked the resistance and think the stator could be the issue, so I'm sending it away for a re-wind, we'll see what happens when it comes back. I did try my coil off my 250 gas gas to see if the spark was any better, but alas not.... Thanks for your help and interest. J
  5. Thanks, great help but more work needed.
  6. Thanks for the info, I think a carb strip is tonight's job does anybody know what the jet sizes should be, just so I can check whilst it in pieces? Cheers J
  7. Number one should say wouldn't restart...
  8. Not offended at all, thank you for your interest in my issue. 1. Purchased as a non runner, was told it died and opulent restart. 2. see above 3. Nope 4. Yes, I did discover a lot of fuel in the cylinder and I had to turn the bike upside down to get all of it out... Which I thought was a bit strange. 5. Nope as I said above thanks for your interest.
  9. Hi all, 2000 txt boy will not start, I have clean fuel, spark and compression but it still won't go. I have looked through previous posts about stators failing but if I'm still getting a spark could it be that it's not strong enough? People also mention testing the resistance could someone give me any figures and procedures please? Thanks in advance J
  10. Hi all, I have a 1997 250, with a ton of clutch drag, checked the hydraulics all seems ok, I've had the side cover off to check the plates, but when I operate the clutch it seems to move unevenly. Which to me seems wrong, are the spring bolts torqued down as they don't seem to tight? And will everything fly out when I take them off, also do they have a special sequence in the tightening up of the said spring bolts? I know a lot of questions for my first post but I can't find envy thing relating to the clutch spring bolt tightening and I don't want to snap anything... Cheers Jason
