Totally agree Steve. I intend a full lock down system with loud bells and flashing lights....scare the living daylights out of any hooded scrotes....

Thanks for advice...
Yes UK is rife for m/c theft. has been for years...
Dont ever hear of police busting major players.
Perhaps the theives (scum) are to organised, or police time is needed elaswhere...shame.
Gutted for my son (16) as he worked hard all summer and saved for his bike....not insured also...
Learnt my lesson...future bikes will be road registered, insured and stored elsewhere in a seriously secured location....
Future attempted theiving bstrds will be caught on camera, identified using social media, hunted down and dealt with accordinaly (private)...

Update:...Bingo....Back running...Thanks to all postmen...and Zippy for the recent advice...all taken onboard...
Cut the split ht back even more...now only about 6cm in length..replaced plug cap for new, one more suitable which just ,makes the plug top....
Binned the 2 spark plugs and replaced with new....
Off she whent running sweet...
From what i saw...i believe the issue was too much bend in the ht lead, also split and maybe the plug cap or plugs also contributed...
Also ordered new CDI unit...dont like the short length im running with now...will swap...just to make me feel more confident in reliability...
All good advice given.....the best one for me...'was work backwards' dont go straight for the CDI / stator....(which i nearly did)....may save you money...and effort
Funniest was hold onto the ht lead with your hand.....haha....my 15 year old lad was the one who drew the short straw,,,,,but it worked and hes ok.....
Happy Man...again...big thanks to all.
Im sure i will be back again...

yes been switching between 2

Update:
Took the plug cap off the ht lead, removed plug from barrel and cranked by hand..held lead in hand..SPARK...is back?????
if this was the stator...would this happen...anyway reconnected all and tried to kick of.....nothing...again...
The ht lead when plug and cap is in position is so short with a shcoking right angle....also outer sleave lining split.....is this ok..normal for this Sherco...my sons beta & GG are much longer with no right angle bends...
Wondering if im losing spark because the seriously short lead and tight bend.....maybe arhcing across somewhere?
Going to fit new plug cap tomorrow to see if it does the same....if it does maybe its time for an new CD? or will the HT length be the same? thats my worry?
All suggestions / experiences appreciated...
-
thanks again..will do the simple & cheap changes then get it to someone whos handy with bike stators & multimeters if the changes fail....

Hi JFC......To dissconect kill switch is it just a matter of unpluging at connection in line? or do you need to do something else?

2007 Sherco 250...Running fine for the past 6 mths. Stalled at trial....took 10 mins to get going again...ran for 2 more mins then died as if carb clogged...Would not start again....
On visual inspection weak spark then totally disappeared. no spark......Cleaned all connections / earths...still nothing....No spark.
Im going to try a spark tester on the plug....just to confirm loss of current...
Is this the best basic method.....sorry dont know how to use a volt meter...
Whats the most likely unit failure if spark not there? And how can i eliminate step by step...when replacing parts...which to go for 1st?
Any starting points / advice will be much appreciated.

Update...
Fitted new regulator tonight.
YES ive now got a feed.
Also replaced carb float needle valve and set float up using info on the forum.
Ran bike in rear garden and seems all ok. Will give it a better test at the weekend.
Big thank you to all who shared there bike knowledge and prevented me from taking it to a local dealer and paying an arm and a leg.
Appreciated
Darren.
PS... i may be back...

Checked all wiring and made sure earth had good contact.
Still no joy. Ordered a new regulator today.
-
Thanks naichuff.
Will give it ago tomorrow.

Thanks pindie.
Ordered a new float valve which is going in soon and i will then set up correct.
Im still addressing radiator issue.
Ran direct current against two push on connectors...nothing...???
Connected them together and ran bike.... nothing...???
Couldnt get to direct fan feed lead without removing radiator so did this. Ran direct feed onto fan and fan works.
Now confused.
Could it be a regulator???
Couldnt see one?
Does anyone know where it is?
I also managed to crack bracket weld on bottom rad fixing mount..rad now leaking..triffic....will have to get it welded back.
Simple job turns into nightmare all because a flaming fixing screw refused to come out. Never mind it can be fixed.
Help appreciated with the rad regulator please.
Darren.

Hi naichuff.
I will check needle and valve. Had the carb upside tonight so i bet the float/s got stuck.
Is it simple to check float ht? do you know what it should be?
Will check also fan earth at reg.
Thanks

Hi Scorpa 4 dean.
Re-checked carb all clean. Put back in bike.
Ran 12V across the two unpluged terminals direct to fan. Nothing??
My sons not had this bike long but he reckons he saw the fan come on at high revs a week or so ago. It looks not in to bad shape but cant understand why it wont come in with a direct source.
Do you know where the ground wire is from the fan so i can check to see if this is making?
would the bike just die after about 5 or 10 mins if over heating? runs really well untill it does??
Also i ended up with fuel all over my shed floor when putting bike away...came from down back of swing arm. Does the carb spill out if flooded?
Ive not gone down the float and choke avenue yet. Wont to make sure fans doing what its supposed to 1st.
As you can tell i have basic knowledge when working with carbs...
Appreciated
Darren

Hi can anyone help?
My rev 3 200 runs fine for short periods then just cuts out for no reason.
Then its a dog to get started again. Have to kick with fuel off half a dozen times to clear carb then kick with fuel back on to get her running.
She then runs sweet for 5 or 10 mins then does it again.
Gave it a full carb clean / air box all clean and sparking seems fine, but still does it.
I think it maybe a fuel / carb issue??
flooding??
Could the carb be set up wrong??
Any ideas appreciated
Darren.

Please can someone advise me if the oil seal behind the front sprocket on the above bike can be removed and replaced without splitting casings?
