  1. The gas is three weeks old ,it's the pre-mix oil thats 4 years old. I tried a new plug, no luck starting but this plug has a yellow spark instead of white. Next step, new gas and oil I guess. Thanks again,Scott
  2. Does 2 cycle oil have a self life? The Maxima I mixed with ethenol free gas is probably 4years old, could this be my problem? I'll get some fresh stuff and give that a try.
  3. Your right you can't have too many bikes but keeping them all running can be a problem. I got to work on the Fantic tonight with no luck again. I have done the following: replaced the 2 overflow lines, moved the needle to the bottom clip position, raised the float level. It soaks the spark plug after the first 2-3 kicks with no choke on. I'm not adding any throttle input when kicking. Should I keep raising the float level? The bike ran fine when I got it but it wouldn't idle, it seems Ive buggered it up some how. Scott
  4. Thanks for the info, I need to get my butt in gear on the Fantic as I know I'm missing loads of fun. I've been busy getting tires for my Guzzi's and Benelli and weather permitting riding them when not working. I think I have one too many bikes in the garage for the time and money I have, but I ain't complaining I'm enjoying life the best I know how. I'll get back as soon as there is news. Thanks,Scott
  5. I'm having trouble getting my 85-86 300 Professional to start, am thinking it may need a new plug and not sure the one in it is the correct one. I'm getting white spark and there is plenty of gas on the plug so it's getting fuel. It was running when I got it but the carb leaked plus it wouldn't idle so I took the carb off and cleaned it with carb cleaner and compressed air. I put it back together ,now it won't start, I figured a plugs cheap so I'll make sure to get the right one for it. Any other ideas? Thanks, Scott
  6. My 300 Trial Pro's tire rubs the muffler when the suspension is compressed, is this normal? I can't see where anything is bent, could it be the previous owner had a larger tire on that did this? Once I get her back together I'll see if it still does it. I was thinking maybe this might be a commen problem with this model. Thanks,Scott
  7. Thanks for the reply and info, now where do I get ethenol free fuel?
  8. I'm picking up an 85-86 300 Trial Pro tonight, what trans oil is prefered and what ratio should the gas oil mix be? The previous owner used 50:1 and automatic transmissin oil, also I have some 5 year old Maxima 2 stroke oil that I used on an old Maico, is this safe to use in the Fantic?
  9. I'm picking up my first trials bike tonight, I got it for $600 plus 2 tires, the ones on it are cracking around the rim area but should do me for now. It needs a good cleaning but it looks about as expected, I'll need to take the carb off as it leaks now after sitting with petcock on. Where is the best place to get parts in the states for these? Previous owner mentioned a place in New York, He also said to run premium fuel at 50:1 ratio with synthetic oil, sound right? What kind of oil for the tranny? Thanks for all the info! Scott
  10. What is the connection between SWM and Fantic? I have seen the two mentioned together elsewhere.
  11. I'm going to look at it tonight but you have convinced me I should get it while I can plus it's so close to home. One question, what does this thing weigh? Thanks ,Scott
  12. Thanks guys, I'll give him a call to see if it's still there.Scott
  13. I forgot to ask is there anything that I should look for on this bike that would make it a bad buy? Thanks again,Scott
  14. There is a Fantic for sale near me (Ohio,USA)the owner is not sure of the year but around 1986 , a 300 Trials Pro twin shocker. He has had it for 6 years the last 3 it being stored. Problems are front brake lever needs replaced(drum both ends) and it is slow to respond to throttle inputs, have not seen the bike yet, asking $650. I'm an Italian bike lover having had Ducs,Guzzi's,Nelli's and this bike has me thinkig of a possible purchase but don't want to get in over my head with money or headaches. I'm just planning on riding it on my own 3 acres so I just want something that will start when I want it to. Thanks,Scott
  15. Hello all from Ohio, USA! I've always thought the world of trials riders skills hoping some day to bite the bullet and get a bike. My main thought has been to use it as a practise tool for my street riding, I had dirt bikes off and on up till 4-5 years ago that helped with my skills. I'm almost 54 y.o. have back, hip and knee pain now and the thought of being stupid on a MX bike tells me NO!! I currently own a Moto Guzzi Breva1100,Griso1200 and a Benelli Tre900,the cost of tires alone leaves me with little money as I average 12,000-14,000 miles a year. I will be asking questions so please be somewhat understanding, Scott
