  1. The Bultaco Brinco is more of a Trail bike but still pretty cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSwb7lUVpVE
  2. Keenan, set a fun ride date so we can get some riders out their to see what you got. This will be the best place for info. I can set up and maintain a FB page if we want to. I can do the marketing and get the other clubs involved. I would really like to go out to the World Round but the money says no. Check out the Fun night ride at Sonrise July 10 . NEOTT.com
  3. Do we call it Winter’s Wonderland Off road Park or Trials Central USA? Check out: FB Arkansas Dirt Daubers Trials Riders
  4. Oh it’s good to see Keenan back stirring up the pot again. He sure did get some action going here. First it is good this subject is brought up now and again to bring in any new ideas or just revisit some old ones. The payback to the top finishers is nothing new. Although I would like to see how you would make an entry fee total of $2500 ($1250 per day) pay the top rider $3000. Simplifying the payback even more would be to not charge at all. I have been putting on some FreeTrials for Dirt Bikes on the Open ride day before some Harescrambles. We use the JITT format ( http://www.neott.com/jitt.htm ) Set-up sections based on the skills of the riders that show up. I do feel that most riders want a Trophy. This can be one of the biggest expense to putting on an event. This also has a long term effect in helping to promote your event. Top riders may just prefer cash but the newbies sure like something to show for their accomplishments. I would like to see Pat enter a FMX competition and not do a single back flip and yet do things the FMX riders can’t do or show his skills in a Skate park. A exhibition ride at the LA SX track on the Water fall would be great too. A combination of Free Style and Trials would be FreeTryal. So Keenan when is the opening of Winter’s Wonderland Off road Park? You could call it “Trials Central USA” due to its great location in Central USA. I already have people taking about putting on a HS their and we could do some Mountain Bike events too.
  5. Oh this thread again..”how do we get more Trials riders?...” I’m not condemning it, I would love to see it happen but I am a realist and Trials is stuck with its legacy of producing some of the best riders in the world that no one has ever heard of. I see Trials as a great training tool for the kids and for me, it will always remain as my kinda “Golf”. So to add to this thread: Something that surprised me with its increase with spectators/ riders turning out to www.AHSCS.com CrossCountry/HareScrambles events is having an “open ride day” on Sat before the race on Sun. For $10, you get to ride the nice groomed and Arrowed track that will be raced on Sun. just calling it an “open ride day or Trail day” and not “practice” seamed to bring out more riders not wanting to RACE but wanting to just trail ride. This $10 also gets them into the gate for Sun. when many would learn about the race and maybe try it later. This may work for Trials also because there are many more Trials bikes NOT being used for competition that may just want a playday Or maybe a plan like: Bring your Toys, ie… ATV, MX, Enduro, DS, Adv.Rider (tie in a road ride) and come ride the loop. While you’re there check out some of the “Best Riders in the world” doing crazy things on their funny bikes. I’ve seen it suggested, adding Dual Sport or Trail bike classes to Trials. This works! At the local level. How about at a Nati.? I would try it. Use Enduro X to help Trials. Set-up some real easy sections. The Bikes must be over 55”wb, have stock gearing and be stock or mass produced. Many Enduro X type events are happening locally, why not take advantage of it by offering something less brutal that helps develop skills. As you may have guessed we ride mainly local XC now. Why? $10 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC gift cards at every event entered. We get 50% discount on everything, Free stuff like Helmets, gear, Tires at some events and for YEA. Pro pay-outs from $100 to $400. I have seen the Bad sportsmanship attitudes but I was told to “treat others the way you want to be treated” at least at our events, there has been a development of a great community of riders helping each other out. So No, I’m haven’t given-up on Trials, just that there are more reasons not to travel and spend big $$ to go to a Nati. PS: I do think that the section difficulty has good and bad effects. Some see it as a negative “we have to do that!?!” so more technical sections don’t look as dangerous but on YouTube the BIG stuff looks great.
  6. Lets call it what it is , Trials Racing. It sure doesn’t look like Enduro and the best riders have heavy Trials back grounds. The Brazil track even had sections of difficult terrain followed by connecting loops. Maybe that will be the future of Moto Trials. Instead of hard to score “Non-Stop” just let them ride through the tough sections and keep time. Fastest finisher wins or is that Enduro then? Another idea was instead of Freestyle Motocross (Moto X) were they get scored on their Tricks make it FreeTryal (X Trial already taken), were a panel of judges evaluates the style, trick difficulty, and originality and produces a score on a 100-point scale. Easily adapted to Moto X or Skate Park course. Then we can leave “Observed Trials” the way it was when it started all this extreme riding. Thoughts from an old Yanker
