  1. Great advice thanks, checked where you said ait as 171 stamped on the engine. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the info, when you say take pics of the cylinder and head do you require me to take off the cylinder head, I suppose you must do to see the cylinder ?
  3. I have just been trying to find out the year of my Ty 175,to find that the engine number looks like it has been ground off and the frame number reads * 13 E - 000284* . I found a chart on the net and it looks like it might actually be a 125 frame. How would I check the engine cc without a number.? And I am correct in saying that the frame is a 125? Cheers
  4. Update. Thanks for everyones input and advise. I have just installed a new woodruff key and the bike started first kick, been for a quick run and everything seems good. result. Thanks again
  5. Should it just be a case of replacing the woodruff key and everything should then be back in line? Is there anything else I should check before I try to restart it.
  6. is the wood ruff key in 2 parts? does anyone know the dims?
  7. Further to my first post, I have a 175 that was starting first kick with the choke on but then when you put the choke in it died. After some advise on here I stripped the carb and cleaned and checked all the jets etc, mixed new fuel 50:1 cleaned out the tank which was full of bits of fibre glass but a new fuel hose on. Put the carb back together and the bike started fist time without choke and ticket over nicely. But when I took the bike for a spin it seemed to bog down without much power as if it was choked, then it stopped and wouldnt re start. What I have done so far. Stripped the carb again. ( wont start and backfires) Took out the new fuel and put the old fuel back in. Put the old fuel pipe back on. Put in new plug stripped and rebuilt fuel tap. Still the bike wont start. Lastly I have removed the fly wheel to check the points to find a broken wood ruff key, would it be this that's causing the problem, I only ask because it says on one of the suppliers web site that it is just for positioning the fly wheel. Should I be looking for other things or does anyone think it would be the wood ruff key.
  8. Thanks for the great info, the main nozzle, pilot jet were blocked as suggested plus a fairly dirty fuel tap filter. I have only just got thins bike so I have no idea on what mixture is in he tank etc. first thing willl be to change the fuel so i know what i am dealing with then I will go through the things suggested by tony over the next few days. Just watched the video, that gives some good info. Cheers. Have a good weekend.
  9. Thank you for your time and replies. I ve got some good pointers already. This site is a god send for info, can,t remember what I did to repair my bike back in the 70,s a lot more hit and miss if I remember correctly. Have a good weekend.
  10. I have had a problem with the bike only running with the choke out, only needed to be out a little but would rev high then die if you closed it completely. I have ( fingers crossed) sorted it out by cleaning the carb, taking out the jets etc etc and blowing out with comp air. It popped and spluttered at first but now seems ok. My question. How do you set the carb up for normal field use? I have had a look in the owners workshop manual but can,t seem to find anything about setting the mixture. Thanks
  11. Thanks for the reply, I am based in lothersdale near skipton West Yorkshire , not sure what parts I need yet but I am sure I will be needing a few. I have noticed one of the sponsors supplies part, just wondered if there were any others. Thanks
  12. Hello everyone I am 44 years old , just bought a ty175 that's running but in a bit of a state. I had one of these when I was 14 and loved it. Could anybody point me in the right direction for replacement parts? Thanks
