  1. Hey all, Been looking at a aftermarker WES silencer for my 98 techno, the JK Hirst website has this page: http://www.jkhirst.co.uk/acatalog/Silencers_Modern.html it has all the silencers listed for the Zero, Gara and Rev3, but no techno! the big question is, can the Gara one be adapted to fit or is it suitable? could do with some help as my OEM one is about knackered! (like the rest of the bike !!! ) Please help you beta guru's surely one of you had a techno and upgraded the exhaust!! Thanks for the Help Flossie
  2. Gonna really wind the techno boys up, got loads of bit from e-bay in the USA, full vertex piston and ring kit
  3. Hey all, got my 'expensive' 98 techno in bits for a bit of a tidy up and some new rings and wheel bearings, going to have a go at polishing the frame so its like a Mirror finish and do a few mods to make it more user friendly. Thinking about putting a AJP 4 pot caliper on the front as the existing set up is very poor even with galfer pads it, has anyone done this before? worth doing? Heres a pic as I have just started preparing the frame, Regards Floss
  4. I kind of went into it with my eyes shut to be honest, shiney paint and new plastics etc, It ran o.k and was pretty quiet- the clutch dragged from cold and the vendor assured me this was a typical beta, I didn't check the suspension for play etc, just checked it rode and was no rattles from engine etc, first thing I noticed was it needed wheel bearings, so changed them, Then went for a ride on the fells, getting home forks were weeping with been compressed on the trailer, changed the seals and oil, two weeks later same again, took them down to my local trials shop- full rebuild needed. While the forks were off I thought I'd re-grease the headstock bearings- took them out and they had been tighted that tight they were square! thought by then I hadn't got such a good deal on the bike after all so checked everything else. Been able to pick the back end of the bike up by 2 1/2 inches and the wheel stay on the ground wasn't good either while it was in bits I rebuilt everything else. and so on and so on etc. Yep learn't the hard way with this one, and its opened my eyes well and truly! Got to look on the positive side though........................... THERE ISN'T MUCH LEFT TO BREAK!!! REGARDS
  5. Well, I've owned my 98 techno 250 for exactly 12 months today I paid
  6. This may sound really silly, but have you checked to see if it is getting a GOOD spark, my bike was being a bugger to start (98 techno). I was thinking it was the stator/cdi etc. It turns out it was the HT lead where it screws into the coil pack had a bad connection P/S BetaRick, where did you get them repsol beta fork stickers there wicked! Regards Jonno
  7. Hi Guys, Rang Lampkins today, quoted
  8. Hi R2w, I'm In Cumbria, UK Yeah Ive already got the diagram from your site, its been ace for the rebuild, good website as well mate! Has anyone got a rough price for one? spent far too much money on the techno- just hope I like it ! Regards Floss
  9. Hi guys, Right major crisis time, the triangular linkage that goes on the shocker, swinging arm and lower linkages is absolutly shot at, does anyone know where to get a secondhand one for a 1998 techno, or how much are they new. Really stuck guys as its the last bit of the bikes rebuild before summer Please Help FlossieAwol
  10. My local trials shop pressed them in for me and I rebuilt the forks/filled with oil. I've ordered some more fork seals and the fork bushes, really hoping this cures it!
  11. Hi guys, Yes I thought that as well, but if you click on this link http://www.beta-uk.com/B1998/FAQ1998.htm It says that both the left and right hold 360 ml of oil, the left fork has the damper in and the right one has the spring. Really stuck on this one, the stancions have no damage at all, Regards John FlossieAwol@aol.com
  12. Hi Guys I could do with some advice, I changed the fork seals on my 98 beta techno 250 about 3 weeks ago, put new seals in and new dust seals, and 360ml of 5 wt fork oil today on the bikes second ride out the Both fork seals have started leaking again. I'm at my wits end has anyone got any ideas??? The gold coating is worn to the silver crome on the stancions in places where the dust seals been rubbing, would this cause it? Thanks Guys John 1998 beta techno 250 lampkin rep
