I am doing research into the Cotton Mickmar project and am looking for a photo of the bike. I have this newspaper article with a of Eric Lee holding the frame he built for the Mickmar engine. I have been in touch with Michael Martin who made the engine and John Close who rode the bike for a season for the Cotton factory and they have no photos of the bike either. Any help would be much appreciated
Hi I am starting a project with ex cotton works rider John Close the cotton mickmar trials bike and am looking for as much info on it or other minckmar trials bikes. I have been talking with Michael Martin who has given us lots of info but unfortunately he does not have and photos of the bike. We are wondering if anyone has a photo of the cotton mickmar that would help us in our project?
Long dead thread but.... I built one of the Mickmar bikes and rode it for a season in '76. Mike Martin and George Sartin provided the parts and space at the Talon workshop in Yeovil. We used a Sammy Miller HiBoy frame and Honda tank. Another guy (Mike) also built one, chrome or silver tank if I recall.
Does anyone remember what happened to the cotton mickmar. I have been speaking to John Close that rode it for a season and he remembers dropping it off back at Talon and that was the last he ever saw of it.
Hi cottonmatt i hopefully seem to have sorted myself out now by having stuff made or adapting stuff from other makes of bike. If i ever get it back together i will let you know. To be honest the lack of spares availability is really putting me off the project. Probably explains why you rarely see minerelli cottons or sachs sprites, saracens etc. Anyone who has one thats useable is terrified of using it because if anything breaks or wears out then it's the end. Thanks anyway.
Ok if you do get on to trouble let me know and i might be able to help. Would love to see it when you finished it if you do that is. If you do think of getting rid of it id be really interested in buying it off you.
HI im am restoring a Cotton MX125 an would love to know if anyone has any info or photos of them as I believe chatting to the cotton club there was only 10 made an mine is number 1.
