Crank seals
I replaced the pilot jet,and all the others with new..no difference..so I'm in Scotland, and the bikes back in Derbyshire ???

Crank seals
But it isn't blocked with crap,it's just brass, there's never been a hole through it,or so it appears..can't get my head round it tbh,I thought it was just a bung and not a jet..

Crank seals
Evening chaps..the latest in my shenanigans..is this my pilot jet,and shouldn't there be a hole through it?

Crank seals
Hi chaps,I've tried the bike with the new Reed gasket in and still got the problem..but it sempt to be miss firing abit now though on choke.

Crank seals
Right ok thanks.I'll try it tonight after work..I'm running out of things to eliminate.!!!

Crank seals
Right guys,I've got a new gasket between the Reed Cage and the crankcase and got the carb back on ,so it's ready to fire up,but it's too late (11:30 pm) I took the flywheel cover off and checked the crank for movement..there is a bit of play but not much.Does this mean my main bearings are shagged or is there normally a tiny bit of movement?

Crank seals
Yep,that makes perfect sense..I'll check tomorrow..thanks ?

Crank seals
We'll I've checked the reeds and they're fine, although the gasket was split..

Crank seals
Hi chaps,I've tried New fuel and it's made no difference ? I think my next step is to check the reeds,as someone has suggested. I'm getting pretty frustrated now because I'm off to the isle of Skye on Friday and I want to take the bike with me so I can practice/play on it..

I'm thinking I've missed an air leak somewhere,it ticks over sweet on full choke..

Crank seals
Hi,well I eventually managed to get hold of a flywheel puller,so I got the crankseal changed yesterday..no difference, the bike still splutters, farts n dies on tickover.I'm just trying it with a premium fuel mix so if there's still no improvement then it's carb off again..for the 7th time ?

Crank seals

Crank seals
Hi,just to update you..I've removed the flywheel cover and sprayed carb cleaner behind the flywheel as it was struggling to tick over,it seams to be the crank seal because as I sprayed the bike ticked over lovely but as soon as I stopped spraying it struggled and died.. Is the flywheel easy to remove? I assume I'd need a puller of some sort?

Crank seals
Yes I've tried wd40 around the carb and inlet manifold, but I think I'll try it again. What are the crank seals like to do,is there an easy way of checking them? How would I get to them as I've had nothing to do with those before..

Crank seals
Hi,I've tried the bike with a new plug (gap .5mm) and it's no different..about 10 seconds after turning the choke off the bike wants to stall, regardless what you do with the tick-over screw.I have noticed though that when you rev it to keep it going it takes longer than normal for the revs to go down i.e the revs drop slowly..

Crank seals
I've just took the plug out,so I'm gonna try your advice and then leave it overnight to dry out..

Crank seals
I here ya.!! But also I live in a smoke free zone, but i'm burning logs in my stove, so I don't want to upset anyone..you know how fickle some neighbour's can be, and it's not long before someone grasses you up.!!

Crank seals
No,I double checked I'd put the floats in correctly, pins to the bottom. I'll follow your advice tomorrow night after work..I have to be careful with the bike because there's young kids next door and they go to bed Early..

Crank seals
Hi,thanks for the reply.. To be honest the bike had been stood for 3mnth in my hallway..I decided I'd better get it outside and fired up,but a few seconds after turning the fuel on,the carb started leaking fuel,so I assumed the floats were either stuck or had leaked fuel inside..anyway after getting it back together and back on I started with the running problems. The new plug came today so I'll try it tomorrow night..one thing though,at work today it suddenly popped in my head to check the crankcase breather pipe, which was blocked.I don't know if that will make any difference..

Crank seals
Hi all..I'm after some advice regarding my Sherco 2.9 2004. I just can't get her running properly, when I blip the throttle the bike dies..I even struggle to get it to stay running on tick-over.I've fiddled with the mixture and tick-over screws to no avail. Up to yet I've checked the fuel, installed a new inline fuel filter, cleaned and oiled the air filter, had the carb ultra sound cleaned, all the jets cleaned, and checked the carb for leaks with wd40..someone has said it must be the crank seals..I've no idea how to check these so any advice would be much appreciated.!! I'm going to the Ilse of Skye for a week at Xmas and I really want to take the bike with me,so I'm starting to get abit worried ?..Thanks..Russ.
