  1. But I would like to see some preload adjusters on the forks.

My Scorpa's got pre-load adjustment, I also know the Montesa has too. Can't speak for the others.

I guess I should go and check out some new equipment before I go shootin my mouth off :o

But what fun would that be? ;)

Unless I'm just hoplessly retarted I dont think my '98 gasser has em. But I'm sure spacers would not be a big deal to make. Although I must admit I have not had the forks apart yet to see.

    Ah....the joy of being a newbie. :o:D:D

  2. Wheel hubs with NO spacers.

captive spacers are not that hard to make...here is a link to a set that I used in the past, just scroll to the bottom of the page for a description. I don't think the same type of thing would be hard to make assuming you had access to a machine shop.

Of course thankfully wheel removal is not something that has to be done all that often :o

  3. MatR,

Thanks for the links there was a lot of good information there.

And to the rest who took time to respond, thanks :D

I have one more question, and then I'll take my bike questions to the bike sectoin where they shoudl have been. :o

What would you think about a trials crank and possibly bars on a 24" BMX type bike? Since I have the bike...

  4. :D Thanks for the input!

I think I'll probably end up getting something before to long. But I need to do some research. I am guessing a small framed hard tail mountain bike would work ok as sort of a dual purpose training bike. But it may just end up making a crap mountian bike and a crap trials bike. :o

We will see. But thanks for the answers just the same.

    :beard:

  5. Just wondering how many of you guys train on a bicycle. I was not thinking about a pure trials bike. But some kind of mountian bike that could do doubble duty as a trials trainer as well as something you could ride to get a good workout on.

I have usually spent a fair ammount of time in the gym, but over the past year I have had a tough time with injuries from other forms of racing which make the gym more of lesson in frustration than a workout. :P

At any rate I guess what I am asking is if you guys ride a bicycle what kind is it? ;)

    Thanks ;)

  6. A four stroke fuel injected trlals bike.

    Think of this

    250 Four stroke

    Mikuni partial fuel injection

    Showa front and back suspension.

User programable ignition (on the fly)

Rear fender attached to the swing arm (for greater clearance)

Foot pegs that rotate slightly for better balance.

    No sub frame

Replacable carbon fiber boot guard areas.

Disc brakes that are inside the spokes attached to the hub.

    A single sided swing arm

    Gas inside the frame.

    Run flat tires

A heads up (HUD display inside the helmet) tach to tell the rider when to shift gears for better usage of torque range.

    A weight of 120 Ibls

Four gears with the fourth one changable by the owner

An electronic reverse gear switchable on the fly in a section.

A memory chip for remembering what your score was in each section and what gear and rpm range that you rode it in.

what a four stroke? now that's just crazy. :P

  7. Just wanted to make a quick intoduction. I've been lurking here for a while, and finally registered. :P

I've had my 98 TX270 for about a month now, and love it!

I live in Florida which I am sure is across the pond from most of ya, but I appreciate the insight I've gained by reading through this forum.

I've been riding for about 16 years, and always wanted to ride trials. But untill just a little while ago I had no idea there was anyone even riding in the states let alone Florida. But I sure was wrong.

At any rate I will not bore you guys with any more of this...but I just wanted to make an intro.

  8. reducing the polar moment of inertia

    Clark,

That sounds like engineer talk to me :P but you are dead on. :santa1:

It would only require a down-draft carb like on most street bikes. And a small fuel pump to get the gass up to the carb. The wiring and pump might add all of about 3 pounds, but with a full load of gas you would sure notice a difference.

Sounds like project time...but not for me. I have to learn to ride these things first. :santawink:
