  10. Had to do the same thing. Try long drift from the other side. or use a Dremil with a burr bit and cut a slot in the nylon bush, should then just push out.

  12. That might be a possibility. Between the noise of the TY and the other Trials bikes I never heard anything unusual.
  13. Rode in a Trial last weekend on my 74 TY250A. 3 Sections had creeks, so I was in the water 9 times (dumped it one of those times). My problem: After about the third wetting my brakes would lock up and not allow we to move the bike backwards - moved forward fine. I assumed the glue on one of the shoes had softened and the shoe had come loose. This has happened to me before and the shoe then comes over the other shoe and locks the wheel up. Not so this time. I have everything apart and there is nothing (that I can see) that would cause the wheel to lock up on either forward or backward movement. It does appear that there are grind marks on the side of the shoes (internal side)very slight. I have cleaned everything within an inch of it's life and am ready to reassemble but hate to do it without really fixing the problem. Any thoughts?
  14. Couple of comments: One: Use race fuel. It is usually 110 octane with no corn added. Most hot rod shops carry it. It will be about $1.50 more per gallon but you don't have to drain everything after every ride. For the small amount of gas you use it really isn't all that expensive. Two: I have had very good success with Caswell's. But ..... suggestion number one is the safer option. I coated a model 92 Bultaco tank with it over 5 years ago and it's still fine.
  15. I'm sure this has been covered before but I didn't find it: Need to replace the seals on my TY250 (1974). Can I do this without splitting the cases? If I can...how do you get the old seals out? Also any hint/tricks for putting the new seals in. Thanks in advance.
  16. We all had a great time in Axton. Results posted soon. Our next event is Danville, VA July 24 Come out and join us. Email if questions: ab400@hotmail.com
  17. You have some type of problem. A TY175 should be able to do a nose wheelie. When you pull the hub off how much of the shoe is making contact with the drum? The comment above about contouring the shoe to the drum is important. Take the wheel/hub off the bike and on a bench: chalk the shoe real well, place the hub in and rotate it while applying the brakes. Pull apart and see where the chalk is missing - sand down other areas. Usually have to repeat several times to get full contact.
  18. Question on riding a TY250 with lowered foot pegs: Doesn't the seat/gas tank get to far up into your crotch when you lower the foot pegs making it harder to swing (tilt) the bike from side to side when turning? I have considered lowering mine for a couple of years but would love to ride one before I cut the current pegs off.
  19. CVOTC's next Trial is Jun 19 at Axton, VA Danville Results
  20. 3896, Actually that isn't true. The correct mix is what you want. To much oil just gums everything up and causes oil not to reach places it needs to reach. 80 to 1 with a modern synthetic will keep that Bantam engine humming for a good long time.
  21. Run it without the air cleaner - just long enough to see if it is restricting the air flow. I had a real problem with that on mine.
  22. Bantam numbers are all listed here: http://www.britbike.com/forum/
