  1. This is what I was looking for, thanks for sharing your experience. I am going to get a new cable on there and I'll be sure to wrap it up. Cheers!!
  2. I do know the stuff. Are you saying this because you’ve also had this issue?
  3. Yeah I guess I'll have to resolve it by looking at more pictures and figuring out why it's lacking that slack in it. Thanks for your input, much appreciated!
  4. Hmm, it's definitely routed on the right. It is attached with a cable separation clip to the clutch hydraulic line and both run along the right hand side of the tank. Sorry for the pictures not being clear, bike is tucked into a shed with six other bikes and kind of hard to get to at the moment!
  5. Here are the pictures. When I bought this bike used it had this same issue so I replaced the cable and now it has happened again a year later. I tried my best to follow the routing as per the manual, too. Anybody seen anything like it?
  6. Super excited to watch him ride in the coming years. Love that there is another Monty rider that's not on a Repsol, can't help but have love for the RRs.
  7. Thanks! I did look at it when installing so I cannot figure out why if routed correctly it has done this again. Failed to get a pic last night, will have to upload one tonight to show you all what is going on. I'm thinking now the housing is clocked incorrectly or something, not really sure. I'll be back with that pic!
  8. Plan on posting a photo to show what's going on when I have one, but for now wanted to get this post up. Have a 2017 300RR and when I purchased the throttle cable sheath was broken near the top where it meets the housing on the bars, and the angle of it was sharp as though it was bent. I replaced it, but now 1.5 years later this one is doing the same. I have looked at pictures of routing the cables and I'm not entirely sure mine is correct, but I have seen more than one routing where one goes behind the bars and beside the tank, and another picture of the routing in front of the bars. I just want to stop this happening again, so if anybody has heard of this issue or has an idea why it's happening I'd love to hear it. I'll get that photo ASAP.
  9. Thanks again Faussy. Sure wish I could find some feed for the Trial Indoor International that's going on right now... Toby Martyn was amazing in the clips I've seen! Bou has got a real tough fight to stay on top this year. Cheers!
  10. Definitely good to know, thanks! Here's hoping I can get all this worked out before the first event so I don't have to find out the results before I've seen it! Cheers.
  11. I always carry a hydration pack, I have the Klim NacSack I think it's called. I always have a small set of tools in there, a saw, some first aid supplies, a snack, keys, phone, wallet stuff, and a few other bits. Can be heavy but I can always take it off during a section. For the most part this pack is well balanced on my back so I don't really notice it there. It also has room for a fuel bottle should I decide to carry extra fuel.
  12. Faussy thanks so much for your detailed answer. Getting answers online or anywhere else has been resulting in dead ends and dumb responses for the most part. I really appreciate this. Navigating the world of watching live/nearly live trials events seems akin to pulling teeth which seems a bit ridiculous given the connected world we are in today. Feels like I'm back in early 00s internet era attempting to figure this out. Going to see about signing up on X-trial now... Cheers! Edit to add: I also signed up for Club Jitsie for the live stuff. I have to say I'm disappointed in almost every aspect of the membership, the tutorials are also not very good. Oh well live and learn I guess.
  13. I didn't know until today, so thanks for sharing this!
  14. I catch up on X-trial on youtube usually months after the events air. I signed up for Club Jitsie thinking it had access to live events but it appears that it does not. Where are you all getting your feeds from in North America (I'm in Canada specifically)? I'd like to be able to watch as close to live as possible (live being difficult if events take place during the middle of our nighttimes!). X-Trial, Trial International, and others? Thanks!
  15. Oh isn't that just the way...glad it worked out for you!
  16. To follow up on this old thread, I ended up sliding a piece of rubber coolant hose of the correct diameter over the end of the arm and safety wiring it on, It no longer sticks and I didn't have to grind anything or bend anything. Also makes the arm less slippy for kicking over. Maybe not as pretty, but it works. Cheers!
  17. To the person who said that the Montesa is not for a novice, I have to disagree. Been riding mine since July of 2022 as a novice and never had any problems with it. I love my Montesa, it climbs anything and everything, works perfectly well for me. I have done several clinics and trials on it. Perhaps my advantage is just having had lots and lots of practice on the four stroke big bikes with clutch/throttle control. I could theoretically see if someone is new to bikes in general maybe not the best option, but I still hesitate on that because I find two strokes to be a bit snappy and as a beginner I think I'd prefer the linear power of the four, but that's just me! Cheers!
  18. Has to be an end somewhere! It'd be awesome to see him go on and keep winning, but it looks like that gap is closing!
  19. It's looking that way, he's still winning but he may no longer be untouchable. These guys are really training hard and it shows. For example just watching Marcelli in 2022 vs. 2023, he has improved immensely.
  20. The latest X-trial results seem to show that Bou is really having the pressure put on by Busto/Marcelli/Martyn, and others this year! Might be the year it begins to end for our untouchable champ.
  21. We found a really cool spot in the woods just off our local trails and just had fun going over logs, learning to turn tight circles on hills/over small rocks/logs etc, and just messing around. The bikes are so fun for that type of thing. YouTube tutorials are great, but have a look online for any clinics being put on near you because it's good to have someone watch you and correct your bad habits if you can. Challenge yourself by setting up tape or cones to stay within the lines in a yard or wooded area etc, that really helps you learn balance/turning faster than anything I find. If you can ride a trial do so, it's really great to watch and learn from other riders.
  22. You've got that right. Always about the money in the end, unfortunately. Perhaps a consideration for clubs would be to set up demos at fairs and such and bring in any local dealers that would like to market their bikes, allow people to try one out or something. I guess that's liability too.. our world makes things so tough sometimes with all the rules we have haha. Yes, the women's trials they put on were much like you describe. This is more like what I was expecting. The junior lines at the first trial were more like intermediate and up, now that I have a better understanding of the sport. I have been told that that particular trial I went to for the first time is also known for being difficult, but how am I supposed to know that as a beginner..? I also picked it because it was much closer to me, put on about 45 minutes closer drive so that appealed as well. For us that time it was a group of 4 juniors so there was little time between rides, and lots of trail to get to each section, so pretty much riding the whole time. The trail was not easy either. It was just all too much for me. I'm glad they did the women's trials otherwise I may not have ever gone back. I haven't gone back to that particular trial again, maybe one day! I love the idea of skipping what you don't want to do as well, but as mentioned with all the trail riding in between sections that's also what got me. I found myself too tired to ride to the next area so I had to call it quits.
  23. Thanks all! I ended up getting the fuel bottle and chucking it into my backpack. Just enough for a multi hour ride. Cheers!
  24. Location? I have mostly seen trials demos as part of bigger shows, ie. the two I've seen were at the big motorcycle show and a local fair. Just depends on where you are and what types of events are around you.
  25. They also make something called mousse balls now, which you can use as many or little as you like according to the adverts. I work at a parts shop and someone came in asking for them a while back and I hadn't come across them yet... thought they were making a bad joke!
