    Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. My mate had a Gripper in the mid 80's - the handling was a bit questionable to say the least. He carried out a similar mod to this and the stability was improved dramatically. He kept the bike for at least 5 years after the mod, so he was more than happy. Looks a nice bike to me.
