  1. Hi there! there are many ways to do it but the key thing is to get the rim very clean! It is crucial to have no mud in the groove where the rim tape sits. Then once you have done this you need nothing more than tyre soap. Mix your tyre soap so that it is thick not watery. Then brush on all the way round the rim where the tape is going to sit. When the tyre soap goes off it drys very tacky, giving the rim tape a good bond to the rim. Then fit your valve making sure it is a good tight fit so the air escape. This should always work. Using silcoln or any other substance is normally just a waste of time and creates a lot of mess. I hope this is of help?
