How do I know that the injector is leaking? I have also noticed strange blisters on the crank seal, I havent been able to split the engine yet due to limited tool resources... I hope to this week. Thanks

Had it open straight away, my dad was mentioning maybe a crank seal gone but surely petrol could only come into the oil from the top of the engine.....(down past the rings) I dont know, these 4t are so much more complicated than a trusty 2t.

Thanks for the replies. Any point in changing main bearings, con rod bearings? Bike hasn't had much use, not compared to you guys in the UK! ! I ride now about 10 times a year if that before I owned it, it was used more maybe a fee tines a week by a club level.rider same as men

Gonna give my 2006 a new leash of life, got the engine out after finding the oil was a little cloudy and smelt of petrol (??). What parts do you more experienced 4rt owners recommend changing? its 280cc repsol. Regards

Sorry I got mixed up there with my oils. I had a look and the engine oil is indeed another make. Yes the noise seems to be on every other stroke, at least not every one so I will strip what's need to get a look at it better. Anyone know where to get some flywheel pullers? Cheap as can be? Sun is behind clouds now, was better over there!

It sounds like top to middle end, I had a mechanic friend of mine listen and he said piston, but it sounds too slow to be the piston. I checked the valve clearances a few weeks ago and were fine, didnt make any difference to the noise at all. Could it be cam chain?

Hi guys, Once again i have problems with my 4rt 280cc repsol machine. She started making a tapping noise a few outings ago, didnt sound too serious but its getting worse, and I now want to get to the bottom of it. I'm debating wether to take the engine completely out or leave it in. The noise it makes sounds like a small loose piece of metal hitting another, it "taps" aprox 3 times per second. Anyone had a similar problem? Many thanks in advance for helpful replies. Peter

Hi guys. I have a 4rt 280cc repsol. I started hearing a slight noise on the head recently so decided to have a look. Can't see anything wrong. Does anyone have any tips on valve settings? I have the manual but would like more opinions before I start fiddling with tappits. Many thanks

Thank you very much for your reply. There are no signs that the chain had moved, but how could the chain come off the sprocket!? Surely the tensioner would prevent this from happening? Did your chain go back onto the sprocket itself or was it off when you opened the engine? All 4 valves have touched the piston, making very little damage, so I think it must be timing, or maybe a sticking valve? but then that would only effect one valve? I'm a bit lost as to what it could be.

Hi guys, yes, I've got problems with a 4rt. Recently bought off a good friend, I have a 2007 repsol with a 280cc kit on it. It was going fine but sometimes very hard to start (and I have got the nak of starting 4rts). The last time she went I simply parked her up (letting her die out without using the kill button, not sure if this has anything to do with it?) and when I went to kick her over, the kick start would not go down. I pushed the bike back to the car and managed to loosen the kickstart, but on kicking it over, she made a funny sucking noise, as if the air was coming back out the air filter, signs of a timing problem? So I took the head off last week to find the valves had touched the piston slightly, but the timing marks seemed to be right, although the mark on the flywheel was kind of between the T and the line. Has anyone had this kind of problem? The valves seem to be fine, I have to make sure yet, but seem to hold petrol in when poured on top. Please help.

I need a bike rack badly, but I have a funny shaped car and not sure if it would work (Citroen c4 coupe) !??? Also in Spain I'm not sure if I would have problems with paper work, are these things legal does anyone know over here??
