Thanks in advance

Hi, should have mine back together next week, what is the correct 2 stroke oil/mix for the 260?
-
Need one for latest project, any ideas where to get one?
-
Im in the process of stripping and changing mains on mine at the minute, bottom end seems to be the same as mtx125, bought a cheap mtx gasket set and gaskets fit bottom end of tlm.
If you need any info pics etc while its apart let me know.
-
I think I might be able to find a suitable piston for the 260, still checking though
-
Thanks ill give that a try

Hi all

Any ideas?

Hi
Im in the process of building up my long term 199 project and last step is wheels.
I had the wheels built but the ofsets are way off and I need to know what they should be as I need the wheels built again.
Thanks in advance

Hi
Bought a tlm 260 a while ago and I'm in the process of fixing it up and need some bits, mainly a piston 1st oversize and air filter.
Parts for these bikes seem very thin on the ground so not sure where to start looking.
Bike is a runner, got new rings and small end but it needs a piston and re-bore.
-
Thanks, should have asked how to put it back on too, decompressor is a bit fiddly, had the cover on and off about 10 times before it was right
-
Hi
Have a problem with the clutch slipping on my tlr 200, need to take off the clutch cover off and would like to know how to take it off without affecting the decompressor etc. seems like a lot of bits have to come off to get it off.
Any help here would be great.
Thanks in advance

Hi
Bought a tlr 200 and need to find out what year it is,
is there a way to tell by frame number?
thanks in advance
-
must be an after market one as my model 80 frame is made of steel pipe, very heavy compared to the sammy miller one it had when I bought it, its light as a feather in comparison.

Thanks for all the help guys having checked everything I think the problem might be with the brake shoes, thought they had plenty of meat on them about 4mm but having adjusted the new cable etc brakes will not bite in any of the brake levers range, how much material thickness needs to be on the shoes for the brakes to work or am I missing something inside the hub?
Thanks
-
Checked it and measurement is richt, heres a pic if that helps
-
Not sure what hub I have but it is not a conical one, seems like the hub needs to be turned clockwise a bit to get the cable to fit, shorter distance between the holes on the stay would prob work as I think its off a different bike where the cable would be attached to it rather than the fork leg.
thanks
-
Hi all
looking for the distance between holes on the front wheel stay, dont think mine is right as I went to fit a new cable today and it wouldnt fit
think the hole centres on the bracket is wrong.
thanks
Could have things the wrong way around also, cable adjuster is on back of the fork leg, should it be on the front wheel stay on the front?
-
One more oil question, what oil is best for the gearbox?
-
Thanks for all the help, I think I know where to go now with it but just regarding the clutch is it adjusted by the cable or is there a means of adjusting it behind the side casing?
cheers

Hi
Just got a 349 montesa cota in pretty good nick, needs a few bits done so I need some advice,
Havent ridden it yet but previous owner said the clutch slips a bit and it also seems to drag a bit, sometimes slips while kick starting the bike so I need to know how to adjust or fix this.
fork leg is leaking also, what seals do I need and how much oil and what weight should I use?
Could do with a fresh set of rings and a small end, where can these be bought?
thanks in advance and heres a pic
-
just a quick update on this I adjusted the timing on the bike and it was still much the same although it now starts first kick everytime which is good, anyway I started investigating the matter further as it sounded like a carb problem of some sort, stripped down the bike today and all looked as it should be also cleaned the reeds and carb again for good measure and it was only when putting the carby back on I noticed that the fuel line where it goes into the carb looked to be pointing in the wrong direction, I had this off before so I must have put it back at the wrong angle and also the fuel hose seemed very long so to cut a long story short I moved the angle of the pipe on the carb and chopped about an inch and a half off the fuel line so it had a direct route into the carb rather than looping up and down and its cured it
thanks for the help ill try it out on sunday and it seems better now with the timing retarded, not as snappy and not kicking back and first kick does it
-
Thats great, just the info im after.
Thanks
-
hi all
Want to check the timing on my bike as it is knocking when up to temp, I am told its pre ignition causing this.
Can the timing be checked with a timing light?
The bike has had a new piston and rings recently and has extra base gaskets to tame the beast which is prob the cause of the knock, it only happens from tickover.
thanks in advance (no pun intended)

A mate of mine done this mod on his sherpa a few years ago and has done it on his other sherpas and it makes the engine nice and crisp and very responsive as the fueling is controlled much better by the reed valve, also means the carb is easier to set up.
It involves taking some alloy out of the standard inlet on the barrel with a dremmel or rotary burr and having a alloy plate machined up to take the reed block, a sherco reed block fits nice.
Also need to drill 2 holes in the back of the piston
btw I have bought one of those electronic ignitions also, how big a difference did it make?
