Thank you for your support, Big John. Looking on ACU website & TMX website, our club is certainly not alone in taking this sensible precaution and respecting the farmers livelihood by cancelling the Longmynd trial.
As a farmer's wife + club secretary I certainly understand both points of view but the club is secure in its desire to be able to be welcomed onto the ground again for future trials and this will only happen if we respect the concerns of the farmers in the present climate.
Cliff and Ian - we respect and value your support and are glad that you are so keen to ride our trial but an event like this takes a huge amount of effort and dedication, not only in putting on the sections but in putting the programme together, getting times to riders, organising food, liasing with homeowners en route and local police and co-ercing 35 or so observers. Unfortunately we are too far down the line to back track. Also the movement ban has only been eased not lifted so animals can only be moved straight to the slaughter house under very strict conditions. We cannot just move animals from field to field or cross roads so fields with sections in cannot be cleared of animals.
So, we are sorry to disappoint but it is definitely off. Here's hoping that you will return next year, keener than ever!!
