Mini Bike With Oil Injection?

Featured Replies

I did a compression test by putting a little oil in the cylinder, the reading is the same, 90-100.

But, then I took off the exhaust and the compression test shows over 120-140lbs.

So. is this a sign that the exhaust is plugged?

Sam,

Have you tried starting it with the exhaust off?

Not sure if it would run correctly that way or not due to back pressure being wrong but that may help to figure out if exhaust is plugged.

Duh! Why didn't I think of that! It will run, it will sound like a chainsaw. But you can ride it or run it to check it out. It will be blowing flame out of the exhaust, just be aware of what you're setting on fire. :D

I purchased a new piston and ring set for this bike, also in the set is a spring looking part that must go under the top ring, is this necessary on a freshly bored and honed cylinder.

I've actually put this mini-bike on the back burner to fiddle with a new sherco!

The expander usually goes under the bottom ring. If you look at the rings from the top, you will notice the bottom ring is not as wide. That gives room for the expander.

Runs perfect! New top end, eliminated oil injection, One super happy kid yesterday.

The largest problem was solved with a giant bonfire, there was so much sludge in the exhaust I tossed the little muffler in a giant fire, burnt that baby but good!

FIRE! FIRE! HEE HEE HEE FIRE!

Good to hear you got it all sorted out Sam.
