Guatemala Wtc

We've heard the chorus of disapprovals to the trial being held in the Central American country of Guatemala but hears to a successful weekend for all the British Riders.

Hopefully we'll see Doug not just get on the podium but top it and see Dibs carry on in much the same vein as his first round performance.

Another fine Atom performance in the Junior and a Wiggy podium. Not forgetting all the other British riders who have made the epic journey west.

Oh and lastly can we have the above for both days. Thanks.

It has been described by one source (friend of a friend) who is there as very much a 3rd world country.

Micheal browns bike hadn't arrived yesterday, but due today.

They have a police escort to the hotel and back and the locals are not aware what trials are.

I am reliably informed that the scenery is quite something. The trials terrain is as good as it gets, and yes, CK is right.. there are loads of women looking for that wealthy man to whisk them away... Andy, you missed your chance :o

Home Office Advice

"You should be on your guard and exercise great caution as violent crime is common throughout Guatemala"

"Tourists are targeted by criminals, especially those arriving at the airport"

"Armed robbery is becoming more usual in Antigua, Guatemala, and even the main areas of town during daylight hours have seen attacks. You should be on your guard at all times. "

"Violent crime is a major problem throughout Guatemala. Serious attacks on tourists, including murder and rape, have taken place. Armed robbery of tourists and muggings can happen anywhere in the country. "

"There have been attacks on cars and buses (including tourist buses) during daylight hours on well-used, main roads. These attacks have included the rape of female passengers."

"There are 5 to 6 murders a day in Guatemala City and surrounding areas. The majority involve the use of guns."

Personally, I'm glad I'm heading to my folks for the weekend. Not much chance of getting shot/mugged in rural Aberdeenshire. :o

Clarification...

Stats could refer to Aberdeen CITY rather than Aberdeenshire, two different places mate. Any figures for Grampian would be skewed if the city and shire are taken together.

Highest crime rate out here in the shire refers to Sheep sha&&ing :wall: That'll be the sexual offences....
