Carl. its usually the bottom of the cowling that vibrates slightly against the bottom of the rad and eventually can put a hole in it. Not heard of the actual viens being holed though. If its weeping from the bottom, silicone the cover into place by running a small amount in the top and bottom of the slot the cowl locates into the rad. This should stop any slight movement of the cover whilst riding and stop a hole being rubbed into the rad, as its only silicone you can still remove the cover easily and re-apply the silicone to hold it back in place.

Hope thats what you mean

Hi

It's possible to repair the rad yourself using some techno weld stuff, it's like solder but melts at a high temp, or if you don't fancy diying it there are a few companies that specialise in repairing rads, have a look in the back of TMX.

Prevention try putting some foam in-between the fan cowling and the rad where the two parts touch at the top and bottom, this will hopefully stop the cowling vibrating around and wearing through the rad.
