Could anyone please tell me the grade and quantity of oil to use in the forks from a TLR 200 please.

207cc in each leg.ATF or SAE 10W fork oil

that's from Clymer manual,maybe check other sources just to be sure

207cc is for the TL125, the TLR200 should have 295cc according to the Honda workshop manual.

And don't use ATF, use proper suspension fluid.

Just bought them off EBAY for a project bike, hope they will work ok, they're Showa so I figured I couldn't go wrong.

I used to ride a mates RTL and loved the forks on that, are these the same?

I use 295cc in each leg of A.T.F in my TLR 200 find it better than 5wt.

ATF is roughly 7.5weight oil according to Honda

The oil capacity of 295cc +/- 2.5cc in each leg is for rebuild only - when you change the oil you should set the oil level since inevitably there will be some oil left.

Honda manual quotes the oil level fully compressed with spring removed as 118mm from top of fork leg

The RTL forks and TLR forks are not the same. The RTL forks are lighter & slightly shorter They can be identified by a waisted profile rather than straight profile

TLR 250 forks also have a waisted profile.

Mistake on my part

Correct info below - I should have checked what each set of forks are rather than rely on memory! I have a TLR 250 with RTL forks - hence the confusion

ATF is 10 weight oil according to Honda - I have also been told its 7.5wt - but it depends on who you speak to and what bike you have!

The TLR forks are single spring while the RTL forks have 2 springs.

Interestingly Honda quote SS7 oil for RTL forks - this is 5wt oil, originally they quoted SS8 oil - this is 7.5wt.
