In a moment of nostalgia induced weakness i recently bought an old Montesa 348 for rebuilding.

It came with a red frame and a hidious lime green/yellowish tank cover/seat unit. I assumed it would need respraying in the red that i've seen every other 348, but after scraping away some of the original paint can't find a trace of red.

Does anyone know if Montesa had a bit of a 'seventies moment' ever painted 348's in anything like this?

Montesa did make some dark green-tanked trials bike models (Cota 172 maybe) but not the Cota 348 model. Have a look at your frame and engine numbers and Jared Bates' excellent website if you want to work out what you are looking at.
