May 15, 200917 yr I am going to service my rev4, can anyone recomend some oil, also has anyone use the hiflo brand oil filters and are they any good? Cheers.
May 15, 200917 yr Hiflo appear to be standard issue - as supplied by Lampkins when I ordered a couple recently for my EVO 300.
May 16, 200917 yr Hi. This is what i know... 15-50w is specified from Beta. Lampkin's say 40w is fine. 50w makes the clutch a touch heavier/more drag. The bike doesn't like being started in gear. I run Total Grand Prix 4T Fully Synthetic 10-50w motorcycle oil and get very little discoloration at 15hrs between changes. I change the oil filter every second oil change. 40w gave a lighter clutch/gear box. ONLY use a quality FULLY synthetic motor cycle oil. car oils aren't designed for gear box use. You'll need approx 800ml oil per change. The HiFlo oil filters are good'ns, and is what i got from the Beta importer, most motorcycle shops sell them. Ralphy
May 16, 200917 yr Yep - what he said. I use Silkolene 15-50 synthetic (see the evo 250/300 4T thread) This is a good place for oil - good discounts and service....... http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-773-motorcycle-oils.aspx
May 16, 200917 yr Same here really, only difference being I used 40w oil, did seem to make the clutch a bit lighter, even still though, your taking your life into your own hands starting it in gear
