To help reduce the abrupt bite of the clutch, try the GM autotrak instead of ATF-f. Will help. If thats not enough and want a nice light pull with a very progressive enguagement - try one of these lighter springs. http://www.jackscycles.com/lpse.html.

got bike today, totally stoked.

so i drained the atf, now, getting it back in is an impossibility in that tiny hole.

any comments on how to easily get 380cc of atf-f in there?

The kind of ATF that I use come with a tiny tube inside the cap. Fits righte in there..

another question. took carb off bike. i see there is a hose that loops from one side to the other and runs under the carb. the lowest point of that hose the rubber is missing (looks like it was melted away) or maybe it is supposed to be like that.

can someone confirm a: what that hose does, and b: is it supposed to have a hole in it at the bottom most part?

They are vents - so yes, the connected hose should definately have a hole.

ok, so i have added the atf-f up to 1/2 way on the glass. after riding the bike and shutting it down i see the red atf being pushed out the clear "overflow" hose and onto the ground.

why is it doing this?

At risk of being called a thread grave digger :-) I just bought my first Trials bike yesterday - a well-used 2003 GasGas TXT 280 Pro.  And thus begins the rabbit hole...!
