I just fitted a new fork seal in the left leg (spring side) and the manual says 350cc and also says 120mm from the tio of teh fork leg. Which is correct ? 350cc doesn't take it anywhere near. I am assuming the fork is extended when measuring ?

Any advice on the correct level welcome !

Cheers

Oil level is always more accurate than oil volume when servicing forks.

Oil level is measured with:

(1) the upper fork tube collapsed into the lower leg.

(2) the internal cartridge completely bled of any air.

(3) the spring removed.

(4) level measured from oil surface to top of upper fork tube.

As far as I remember, there are no exceptions to that process

I can think of in standard Trials forks.

Cheers.

Jon is always correct :banana2: .

The Beta manual is wrong - it shows measuring the left fork with the spring installed and fork leg extended. In order to get 120mm from the top of the tube it takes about 500cc of oil which is way too much. Spring out and fork leg compressed all the way then measure 120mm to the top of the tube.

On the compression leg be sure to pump the cartridge up and down many times to remove all the air then measure 60mm with the fork leg and rod compressed.
