I was thinking more like 4 batterys only use 1 battery at a time you can always P them if you wanted more range. each battery will have its own bms. Each 16ah battery will take around 1-2 hours with a 10a charger so if charging 64ah with a 10a charger you will be looking at around 7-10 hours, ( the more P cells then normally the longer it takes to balance them ). personally I would not charge anything with over 1c ( unless its in a very safe area and you are watching it very carefully ). to maximize cycle life of batterys and keeping it a lot more safer i would go for a max of 0.5c i.e a 10ah battery charged at 5A max (2-3 hours complete charge/balance time )

edit: I was suggesting if you had £300 then you could have upto 64ah worth of battery :-)  but you dont have to..

Thanks for all the advice gwhy. I am going to go for the 6s 8ah ×2 and just run one at a time for the first few weeks then parrelel them together at a later date.

one very useful bit of kit to have is a watt meter, its great for a number of things ( fault finding ... motor , batterys, controller )

They are mains 240v and in the UK so not sure which ones to get now, as didn't realise the hk ones are from Hong Kong so more on postage and waiting time.

charger looks ok, i have never came across one of those before...  for 6s it will have a max charge current of around ~ 3.5A ( it says that it is a 90W charger )

I like the sound of this but I can see it's wired both ends, how would I fit this to the bike?

Also I can only find 6-6.4mm or 9.4mm heat shrink, not the 8mm you mentioned, am I missing something?

If I was to make up a 3pack parallel lead and was using xt60 connectors would I use 8 or 10awg?

8awg is way to thick for xt60's, you can get away with 10awg (just) but xt60's are designed for 12awg.

the best way to make adaptors is using thick copper wire, hot glue and heat shrink.

for a 3 way xt60 P adaptor set it up like this ....

 

solder well ( no shorts!! )... then completely fill the gap with hot glue then cover with heat shrink..

 

the hot glue will make the whole thing rigid and insultat the connection from the elements then use heatshrink to make it look nice :-)..

you connect the source side of the meter to the battery and the load side to the controller so basically it goes in between the battery and controller ( rest of the bike ) . because it requires full battery volts and current then its not ideal to run it upto the handle bars as this will involve quite long power cables, so i would try to mount it as close to the controller input as possible and as high up on the bike as possible ( as they are not very water proof )..  if you fit xt60's on the meter it can be easly taken out or put back in as it will only be really used to check stuff, as you will have your LV alarms on the battery to monitor the battery. if you want a perminant tank mounted voltmeter then get something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-24V-Car-Motorcycle-LED-DC-Digital-Display-Voltmeter-Waterproof-Meter-new-WaT-/371844206229?hash=item5693a44e95:g:2y4AAOSwHoFXrDDR .. that meter only reads up to 33v so keep that in mind if you go higher voltage on the bike..

10S4P means 32-42V correct? And 11600mah so these cells are 2900mah each. If they are in fact these cells then it should be good

 

Wondering of what the range would be with 11600??? Also could you charge these with OEM Oset charger. They dont mention anything about balance leads

Quick search points out to $4.25 

So that's $170 in batteries alone.

£142 is 170 USD so there is no room for profit unless they get it are way better prices.

I don't know a lot about these batteries, read about them on ebike forums they prefer them over the hobby king batteries. I am going to get a decent battery before summer for my lads 36v oset hobby king have been out of stock for my ideal batteries fir ages so ive been looking for alternatives.
