Hi,

is there anybody out there who can help me?

i have recently bought myself a project bike for the winter being a 1978 ty 250 twinshock, its an old bike and has been stood for a few years.

it has the clutch casing and clutch plate basket missing. plus kick start missing and rear silencer.

here's a few things i need to know if anyone out there can help..

1- is there a manual for a ty 250?

2- are the 250's the same as a 175 but with a bigger head on?

3- are the DT 250 engines the same, jusst geared different?

4- are there any universal parts that will fit the bike?

5- is there any places i can get parts from apart from sammy millers?

look forward to hearing back from people.

all info will be greatfully appreciated :-)

1) Yes, on CD, you should be able to find it online, ebay or JK Hirst or Trail and Trials UK

2) No, completely different engine/bike

3) Look the same but different internals, different tune, gears, reed although maybe share the same conrod assembly and piston.

4) Quite a few, depends which you mean

5) JK Hirst, Trail and Trials UK, In Motion, used parts from ebay.

Have you tried the Haynes site?

Don't know about the 250's for sure but fairly sure I've seen one.

I know they did one which covered the 50, 80, 125 & 175cc twin shocks as I have a copy.

I'm sure if you search you'll find a workshop manual you can download somewhere on the web. Or at least the exploded diagrams.

It took a while but managed to locate one for the 350 mono which sufficed for my needs with the 250 mono I restored last year.

Hope this helps.
