May 22, 201214 yr was out on the beta evo 09 today everything was fine til i started hearing a slight sound of something scrapping inside the engine . the engine still runs the same but i hear a grinding sound coming from the engine and it don't normally sound like that . i have plenty of oil in the bike . what do u think i should do take the head of the bike and inspect or anything else cheers

May 23, 201214 yr Author took flywheel cover of all looks good in there . what do u think i should try now . i need help hear guys a bit stuck what to look at first .
May 23, 201214 yr Rear wheel bearings is my guess, check for play in the rear wheel as the sound could be traveling with the chain.
May 23, 201214 yr Author it happens when the bike is sitting out of gear also so its not the back wheel i don't no what to look at first think i will give lampoons a call see if they can help
May 24, 201214 yr A well used Beta could develop a good clutch whine. I have heard a few and owned one once. Was never a problem, but was out of the norm. I hope this is your noise. Good luck.
May 24, 201214 yr He states this as a scraping of gringing noise, so pull ple plug out and rotate the motor by hand with the flywheel to listen to it and what may be rough! Feel for excess play vertically and laterally in the flywheel as well. Main bearings may be in question if this noise is present with clutch in an no rotation of trans parts. Thoughts,
May 24, 201214 yr Author checked the clutch last night and the water pump also / the bike has stopped making this noise it is a whining noise and not a scrapping noise . anyway it has gone just now not sure what it was

May 24, 201214 yr Check the inside of the waterpump cover to see if the impellor shaft has been touching - we had a couple with casting imperfections that needed grinding off so that the shaft didn't touch as the motor got hot. - ( Took us a while to figure it out as it came & went )
