June 18, 201214 yr Hello I'm new to the site and to trials riding purchased my bike a couple months and loving riding it but have the problem of the tyre rubbing and wearing silencer I was wondering if any of you guys know where a replacement or possibly an aftermarket silencer is available I've spent a while on eBay and google with no luck Thanks in advance Ross
June 19, 201214 yr Try looking for an aftermarket market one. Email someone like Beta themselves (Lampkins) or BVM?
June 21, 201214 yr Ross Rev3s suffer from the little tab on the frame to which the silencer bolts bending so it no longer holds the body of the silencer away from the tyre. Whatever you do afterwards, you're going to have to bend the tab back so there is just enough clearance for the tyre (and try not to drop the bike on that side, so you don't have to do it again). It should be no big deal - I recall doing it by just pulling on the silencer body until it came back in line - nothing broke, but then perhaps I was lucky. After that: if you have no hole why not leave it alone; but if you already have a hole then why not pop-rivet a tidy plate over it? Surely a new unit is going to be expensive! Cheers Fergus
June 21, 201214 yr I just spaced mine out with a few washers and a slightly longer bolt. Seems to have done the trick OK.
June 21, 201214 yr Plating sounds a good fix to me. People do it to the middle section ok and it would only be a few pennies for a sheet of thin ally plate.
June 22, 201214 yr Author Aye plating sounds like a good idea a have a mate who's a great welder had done a lot of aluminium may get him to make a sleeve for it and put couple rivets on .. Unfortunately there is a hole .. I was bendin the tab but after a drop and maybe bending again the supports got weak so replaced them but will go for the sleeve Thanks again for the help guys Cheers
