July 30, 201214 yr Hi Anyone know the front and rear suspension travel on the TR280i 2012, need to know it when setting sag and I cant find it in the manual.
July 31, 201214 yr The front sag isn't adjustable without changing hard parts inside the fork. I can't remember what we set the rear at but it was right for me standard at 68kg and it was a little firm for my Dad who is closer to 60kg. Dad would like to increase the sag in his forks but it got too hard as we couldn't find a decent manual for the fork and the closest motorcycle suspension specialist is about 1000km away and we didn't want to ship the forks away..
July 31, 201214 yr Can't the sag be set by use of the rebound and damping on the fork caps? Page 24 of the manual refers to the air bleed and adjustment screws so I would imaging that some sort of adjustment is available
July 31, 201214 yr you adjust the front sag by using the 22mm nut on top of the right hand leg (the one with the red cap and the rebound adjuster) it adjusts the preload on the spring.
August 1, 201214 yr Taff_d - is that info in the manual? Which page?? Canada280i - the rebound and compression settings are just that, they have no effect on the sag, they just adjust the speed the fork compresses and re-bounds at.
August 1, 201214 yr But isn't sag just an initial level of compression? if you adjust the compression so that when you get on the bike it sits down a little isn't that equivalent to static sag? I know that when I get on mine both front and back sit down at least a couple of inches.

Taff D is right, the big red nut adjusts the preload on the fork spring, hence the amount of sag. The small screw slot adjusts the rate of rebound. The other fork has an adjustment for the rate of compression. I remember a good description of suspension setup on this forum a few years ago. I'll search.
