250 Sherpa T Muffler

Featured Replies

My 158 Sherpa T (1976 I think) has a slim muffler and not the square boxed one (rear of shocky) usually seen. It appears to be a genuine item as it matches the main exhaust. Can any body tell me if this is correct for this model?

There were three types of rear muffler A small triangular type circa 72 > It fitted between the shock frame and swinging arm This was updated by the Banana type It was a slim curved type exiting at the top of the shock and was superseded by the the type that had the boxier end Cannot say for certain when each type was fitted would be fitted but your one was not fitted for long. I had a 76/77 250 it had the bigger tail muffler so 75/76 could have the non bulbous type.

Thanks for the info naichuff, have had more of a look around now and see various models with the banana muffler, mostly around the 73 / 74 /75 mark, but still most seem to be the triangle or box type, not many with the banana.

The only model Sherpas that came out with the banana or boomerang are the 124/125, Alpinas around the same year 1974 had them as well
