Hi all,

Does anyone know where I am best to have a cylider replated? And how much is charged for this?

I'm not sure if its worth me doing it or not to be honest.

I bought a 2003 200 pro last july, I then fitted: Water pump seal & shaft

Piston kit (A) inc little end

Clutch kit

renthal bars

Rewired to replace bodged lighting

Fork seals

A few rides later it had a linkage bearing kit

In november I bought a 2010 250 pro, so its not been rode since.

2 trials prior to this I fitted new rear tyre, chain and sprokets and brake pads to it

1 ride prior to this I fitted a new front tyre

This week, I have replaced the big end, gear box bearings and idler gear.

I will have missed loads of other little bits and bobs its had along the way too.

Now that everything in the bottom end is sorted, all I can focus on when running it is piston slap due to the worn coating.

As you can imagine, I've already spent twice the value of the bike on it, despite just wanting to sell it to free up space in the garage.

I'm really not willing to let it go for under £1000, bearing in mind the work its had done and that the piston slap doesnt affect the bikes running or pose any significant risk, am I likely to be able to sell it? Or will a rattle scare everyone off?

Let me know your thoughts

Cheers,

Carl

replating is around £130 + piston kit (£80??) from Langcourt replating. They use a number of agents all over the UK, so you may get it for less.

Would i buy a bike with piston slap?.... it would make me worry about other high use issues (even when youve done all that work)

trouble is that a 2003 200 pro isnt worth much more than £1000 if mint.

sorry, not the answer you're looking for.

Dom
