Twin Plug Head

Featured Replies

When I brought my 1974 TY it had a twin spark plug head which I suspect is from a DT, I have now purchased the correct head from Ebay and am going to swap it out, I am just curious as to if this is a standard mod or just a one of on my bike.

Well I don't know if it was a standard mod but my 74 TY250a has one. (But then it was a mongrel when I got it lots of weird parts) When you take the 2 plug head off I would be interested if it was higher or lower compression?

Hello west you do not say which TY you are talking about, a 175, 250, or mono. If a 175 using a MX head is a way to up the compression. On the 250 some people would use the Dt head in order to use a decompresser. And both of these were done back in the day. Hope you find this of help.

Thanks for the information, it is a TY 250, looking at the new single plugged head I see there is a casting blank where the head could be drilled and tapped. Fitted the new one now with the twin plugged as spare.
