So the exhaust end cap on my 280 pro was wobbling around when I bought the bike. Took out the rivets and this is what I found. Now I'm going to hit up a welder to see if he can repair. I heard a replacement part is expensive.

Any tips on this?

Any good aluminum welder should be able to fix that quite easily. Either cut and weld small pieces of material, or simply puddle in some filler material.

Then assemble, drill matching holes through the mating part and pop rivet it on.

A new muffler is expensive. Just re-drill a couple holes. Use silicone during fitment and rivets. Very simple fix.

If you find a welder get them to welds some bits of 1/4 inch plate in then drill and tap them M5. Fix with loctited domed socket head screws. This makes a sound job and makes future repacking easier.

Good point I was thinking of using some type of screw instead. Rivets are a pain.

you do go on a bit mate

They are available as a separate part but a bit expensive (about $80 here in Australia). A decent welder can fix it cheaper.

be careful not to make it too strong especially on later models as its better to replace the end bit than the bit before!

All welded, repacked and riveted back in. Thanks for the help guys.

The inner tube piece was so caked with carbon and such. Took me a while to clean the little holes out. Looks good now though.
