I'm about to take a 9 year old my wife and myself out on the bikes at our local practice area.

How much planning and effort does that require compared with lying in bed playing an x box?

I do  think as I drive out my road with the bikes on the back no way are any of them having as much fun as me today.

The Xbox/Playstation thing is a temporary fad, people will get fed up with it and want proper adventure again.. You just need to look at the variety of youtube videos of young people doing extreme stuff and how it inspires young people. It's only a matter of time ..

What are your thoughts on a starter bike based on say a pit bike style engine, the chap who runs the Otter BSA site has built one which he reckons can be done very cheaply ( check out his site and look at mini otter project.)

Smaller wheels would be needed but I imagine this bike with modern styling could take on the GasGas boy / txt70 and the beta at a more compeditive price for lads or Dads wanting to get into the sport.

Also check out the latest bikes built by Jon Bliss, very stylish and I think could easily be shrunk to suit the younger rider.

Actually some of the latest trick Bantams are probably on par with the small Betas just need some smaller wheels.

If you watch videos of the Osets being ridden the suspension hardly moves with these little lads riding so I am sure we do not need to get too sophisticated, just replicate the proportions of the old TY80 and then the Whitehawk large wheel version and get those youngsters started.
