October 21, 201510 yr I've recently bought myself a beta Rev 3, and Iam having a few problems. Iam not a mechanical minded person but willing to learn, my bike cut out the other day and for the life in me I could not get it to start, having pushing it about a mile back home I realised one of the breather pipes had melted around the exhaust. I replaced the pipe hoping that would be the fix, but still no joy.... Any ideas guys
October 21, 201510 yr Start with a new spark plug. If that does not work, check for spark by holding the plug by the cap against the engine while kicking. Good luck.
October 21, 201510 yr More than likely the stator, the rev3 were famous for stator failures Yep, could well be the stator. They did have a lot go. Don't let that put you off though I had two Rev 3's and neither of them had stator issues. Cracking bike. Like someone else said., check the spark, and if you have one, the next thing I would check is that fuel is getting through. Good luck
October 21, 201510 yr Author Cheers guys, got somewhere to start now, completely lost haha.... Appreciate it a lot, fingers crossed
October 22, 201510 yr If you have no spark it's highly likely to be the stator, before spending £180 on a new one look up companies such as Bradford ignitions. I just had mine tested for faults, repaired and returned within 2 days. Excellent service for £80
October 23, 201510 yr Author Fuel is getting to the carb, plug is sparking, kill switch doesn't seem to be stuck inn and the bike is turning over. It seems to be since the breather melted over the exhaust.... Head scratching lol
October 23, 201510 yr Try a new plug as they can spark fine when under inspection but can breakdown under compression! Edited October 23, 201510 yr by jfc
October 23, 201510 yr Also make sure the spark is in the right place. Not uncommon to see a sheared woodruff key when the flywheel isn't torqued properly.
October 23, 201510 yr Author Iam in rossendale pal, Alls that happened was that it just conked out whilst I were riding it, I noticed the breather pipe had melted around the exhaust, could this have a big knock on affect?
October 23, 201510 yr Had you been riding in streams? Is the spark plug wet with fuel when you remove it after trying to start it or is it dry?
October 23, 201510 yr Author No not been in water, the plug dry when I remove it, I've tried tipping a bit on fuel down the bore but still no joy
