Gas Gas Gearlever

Featured Replies

Anybody out there have any idea how much a brand new gearlever is. I have hit mine against a rock and bent it right out.

many thanks in advance.

:P How much?!!-- Is it not worth putting some heat on it and bending it back or is it like an aero-bar (too brittle).

I think a new one is less than 20 quid. Try straightening the old one, they are quite soft & easy to bend back to shape.

Rub some white soap on it, heat it until the soap turns black, drop it in a bucket of water.

It'll be soft enough to bend.

I bent mine out and left it. I liked the solidness of it being out so far. Then later this season I bent it back into position. Funny how that works.

And they are easily heated up and pushed back into position. :P

I have straigtened it back, but there is a crack in it. It isn't huge, its really thin, but when i heated it up the rivet that holds the end part of the lever has lost its strength.

:P

I bent mine in towards the casing and was going to buy a new one but reckoned I had nothing to lose by trying to bend it back. It worked perfect but be gentle with it.
