Yeh I'm going to take rest of engine out to check what's gone wrong, both circlips were still in place. Haven't identified what it could be yet!

Sparkplug broken? How did the piston look, appart from obvious damage caused by the particle collition with the head, lol.

I have known the item that causes this type of damage to be bits of piston ring, rivets from the main bearing cages or pieces of big end cage.

 

Edit - the barrel looks as if it will be OK, just needs a good clean up and check there is no more bits about to break off.

Bealeykay has a complete top end barell piston etc on fleabay for £55.00 !!!!

Thanks for the heads up Aircooled4ever! checking it out now to confirm that it will fit my txt 250 as its listed as being from a tx 250. Don't know if there is much difference.

If its from after 96 it should not be a real problem I think.
