May 11, 201610 yr Hi, i stripped the bike to have the frame painted and have built it back together but have no spark. Been searching the internet for pictures or wiring diagrams to make sure the wiring is correct. Is the regulator anything to do with the ignition? Thanks
May 11, 201610 yr I had a similar issue mate. Make sure the coil is earthed properly, when I had mine powder coated I had to take a bit of the coating back to bear metal to ensure it was earthed right
May 11, 201610 yr Author Does this look ok? Is there a place that the regulator needs to be mounted? Just sanded the paint off and its still no spark.
May 11, 201610 yr On my '14 the voltage regulator is mounted under the the right ride (if you were sitting on the bike) of the coil on the bottom where the rest of those wires are. That tab on the voltage regulator is actually a heat sink and not a ground so not being mounted would not affect your lack of spark. Mounting it will just help dissipate heat and keep it from getting knocked around. As Eazyste pointed out, both those holes in the frame for the coil need to have the power coating removed so that you have good contact with the coil and with the other wires mounted there.
