Tuning Tips

Featured Replies

about to buy an 06 125 and was just weather anyone had tips as we were thinking of

1. kehin carb

2. high compression head

3. 9t-48t sprokets

thanks

high comp head is waist of time i think. grind the ports that makes em much quicker.

Buy a copy of A.Graham Bells "performance Two Stroke Tuning" - AND READ IT! before you attempt to GRIND THE PORTS, it's very easy to go backwards with porting not forwards if you don't understand the theory first!

I agree.

It is better to change the shape of the piston crown before you attack the cylinder.

Remove the height required in the area of the ports. Start with removing 0.5 then 1.0 mm and see the difference. If you go too far you choose the best value and apply to the cylinder with a fresh piston.

Matt can you elaborate on: grinding the ports. It is easy said, but what part do you suggest to grind?

I feel you have done this mod with satisfaction.

How much does the Kehin Carb cost?

What sort of an increase does it give.

I wouldnt want it on my current bike theres no point but on a future one.....

Do they only do them for Gas Gas?

no ive heard that you can fit them to shercos but i think beta have a carb that is an aftermarket mod but i imagine it would solve the jet, float issue and crispen that power delivery as well as helping it to rev out cleanly were as the kehin softens the bottem end slightly while increasing the mid to top end power range (bit sad i know but i read up on it :D)

Suggest speaking to Kev at Gasgasuk. he is extremly helpful and will point you in the right direction! Popular mods usually are;

Keihin carb

9/48 gearing

high comp head

porting and polishing

gas flowing etc

I know someone who did this on their 125 gasser and it was still gutless :D

Really you should just consider gearing and carburation (with the standard carb) to start with.

Made adifference to my bottom end (290 04) and I think the Gas Gas uk riders (125) like them because of the improvement throughout the rev range.
