Mystery Airboot

Featured Replies

Does anyone recognise this airboot? My guess is that it is the same or similar to one from a Montesa twinshock.

A customer asked me if I could replicate it. But it is split around the folds and will be very fidly (= expensive) to remake. I suspect that there would be a bettter one around if we can work out what it is. Someone might have even already have replica made.

Thanks for you help

Hello mate, you hav'nt give any dimensions, but how about using a steering rack or cv joint gator for the main body & making up the end piece.

Hi Rob,

It looks identical to the one on my Montesa Cota 242 and mine split on the folds too. I tried numerous places to get a replacement without any luck and ended up using clear araldite, which stays flexible, to seal the splits.

Someone did suggest asking in a specialist washing machine/hoover repair shop.

Thanks guys - this is a wonderful place. I thought about dimensions but then thought that it was a fairly unique piece and someone would know what it was.

Hey Roy, if I manage to replicate it, remind me that I owe you one. Thanks.

Does anyone know if they can be had NOS anywhere?

Have a think about the drive shaft boot off a BMW R series boxer road bike. Looks roughly the same, but dont know about dimensions.
