If you have not had Gaernes before and are used to a boot that is quite supportive then you may like to try wearing some sandals with socks on your next practice session to get a feel for the Gaernes without flashing the cash.

I have had a fair few pairs of gaernes and always go for the oiled as they seem to be easier to keep soft and comfy, and offer good protection.

Quality on last 2 pairs is not what it used to be and stiching has failed so im trying a different make.

Im not sure what oni means but as he hasnt had a pair it may well be best to ignore his opinion??

Regardless i m sure the protection is as good as most makes, and never felt it an issue, ever.
