Can anyone tell me if I have to have insurance to compete in trials, whether it be third party or machine insurance?

Most trials aren't on the road (it should say in TMX if it's a road trial). 99% of regular club trials are on private land.

As I only intend doing single venue events I should be ok.

I was told by the lady who organises the riders at the Rugeley practice ground that I need insurance to practice there. This seems a little strange, maybe I misunderstood her

I would be interested to find out what insurance the lady thinks you are going to get which covers you on a private practice ground?
