July 6, 20197 yr 25:1?? I run Motul 710 at 60:1 in aviation fuel in all the air-cooled Trials bikes I have (TY80, 304 Montesa, 348 Montesa, 305 Fantic....) with no problems at all. Pistons, rings, bearings and cranks are all happy and no drooling goo. Modern oils are SOOO much better than the goop that was available when that manual was printed. Just sayin'.
July 6, 20197 yr Author I'm running 30:1. The oil is oil that was good back in the day. Now used up, so will mix with less with the new oil. However, that mix runs fine in the other bike, not oily at all, so it's irrelevant.
July 6, 20197 yr For what it's worth, I run my TY175 at 50:1 on a low smoke trials 2T oil. Even that smokes a bit - I'm pretty sure I could take it to 60:1 with no ill effects.
