Txt 200 Rear Brake

Featured Replies

I just rebuilt the rear caliper on a 2000 TXT 200 because it was not releasing and after all is said and done it seems to now be working OK but I can depress the pedal all the way and grab the rear wheel and still rotate it using a lot of effort. The brake doesn't seem to be mushy so I'm wondering if this is a normal situation? I didn't replace the pads but they weren't contaminated. I'd appreciate any input. TIA

as you have just rebuilt the rear caliper you may have put the pistons to far in,take the caliper off and pump the brake till the piston's come out a little further, then retry on the wheel, keep doing this a little at a time till they are how you like them. hope this helps

Check the master cylinder piston is returning fully, the pedal needs a little free movement before the piston moves, without this the brake won't bleed properly, and can also make the brake bind. Were either of the caliper pistons tight, you should be able to push them back easily with a small flat screwdriver between the pads
