  1. Rather than steal a thread I thought it would be best to start a specific one asking for help on the Trials type bicycles available in the US. It seems the UK has a full range of bikes but the market is limited to high end stuff in the US. More details on my situation - 60 yrs. old, novice motorized trials rider (SCORPA), looking to have a practice bike I can ride with my 9 year old grandson and practice in the winter riding around the garage. I don't see myself doing anything very strenuous so I don't really want to spend $1,200 for trials specific bike. Based on my limited investigation, it seems that the TREK JACK2 would be perfect: 26 inch wheels Front suspension Lot of room over the top bar to prevent damage to private parts in case of a "get off". 8 speeds which would allow riding it to a local area rather than having a single speed which would limit road riding. Front and rear disc brakes (good or bad)? Can be used for easy single-track (?). The reviews seem to be very positive and I have a TREK dealer close. So - Good choice or is there something equivalent for 1/2 the cost? Thanks in advance.
  2. I went ahead and forwarded this thread to OSET to try and get some help from the importer.
  3. Thanks What year is the bike? The bike was new within the year. Serial #OSET0700571 What does the indicators on the throttle show for power? The 3 lights show full power when sitting still but they all go out and the "empty" light comes on as soon as I twist the throttle. The batteries need to charge 12 hours or more for the first few charges. I always charge ours over night....but I would bet its a bad throttle. It was on the charger for about a week between the last time we rode and the problem showed up. You will need to trace the throttle wire back to see if you have a 2 connector throttle or a single connector throttle. ? Taking the cover off the wiring shows a blue and an orange wire leading to the twist portion.
  4. I purchased the 16.5 for my grandson a few months ago and just rode it for the 1st time last week. I seemed fine an we rode around the back yard until the batteries started to weaken. I put it on the charger and when I got it out tonight it there was no power. It would barely carry my 50 lb. grandson around the yard. I put it back on the charger and when the light turned ""green" I tried again, same results. I get my voltmeter and 1 battery checked 12.98 volts and the other checked 13.12. I lost all the paper work during a recent move so I'm in the dark on further troubleshooting. So - does anyone have a scanned copy of the original owners manual and has anyone faced s similar problem. Thanks. Rick Graves 765-452-9365
  5. Hope they're back in a few years.
  6. Just curious why there is no World Round scheduled for the US in 2007. I thought the action in Tn was great last year.
  7. I think this site has about all I could find. http://www.scorpaaustralia.com/Tech.html RLG
  8. Does anyone know where to obtain a shop manual? I removed the rear wheel to repair a flat and couldn't find any specifications on the axle nut torque. I've downloaded the owners manual, the motor manual and the parts book. Is there any other documentation available on the WEB? TIA Rick Graves Indiana, USA
  9. Thanks for the input - posting from the US. Should have my KDX sold this weekend on E-Bay so it's time to get serious about the Gas Gas replacement.
  10. Just sold a 2000 Gas Gas 200 and am looking for a new ride. Run across a 2002 Scorpa SY that looks in really nice shape. What are the major differences between a 2002 and a new one. I know that the people in this group are Scorpa riders but in my area Shercos are very popular. The prices are similar but I like the idea of possibly adding a "long ride" kit in the future. TIA for any input. Rick Graves

    2001 Sherco 2.9

There's a 2001 Sherco 2.9 for sale on e-bay. Is there anything a person needs to be aware of that would prevent bidding on this specific model. TIA
  12. Thanks - Guess I'll order a new one. 1 thorn = $100 Rick Graves
  13. I just got my 2000 TXT200 running and after returning from an outing Sunday morning found that I had picked up a thorn. I bought a new tube planning to patch the old one and keep for a spare. Everything went great until I tried to seat the bead. The tire seems to stretch and seat but not "pop" into place and when I deflate it to 6 psi. the bead pulls away from the rim and collapses towards the center of the rim for about a 6 inch length. I can move this area around but it is a consistent length of about 6 inches. The thing just won't seat (even when inflated to 85 psi.). Is this a function of the tubeless tire and a rim designed for a tube? Anyone else ever noticed this phenomenon? TIA Rick Graves

    Txt 200 Rear Brake

I just rebuilt the rear caliper on a 2000 TXT 200 because it was not releasing and after all is said and done it seems to now be working OK but I can depress the pedal all the way and grab the rear wheel and still rotate it using a lot of effort. The brake doesn't seem to be mushy so I'm wondering if this is a normal situation? I didn't replace the pads but they weren't contaminated. I'd appreciate any input. TIA Rick Graves
