I havent been on the forum for a while, but when i had a tapping on my 290 it was when the water pump shaft had gone. Sounded like a noisey diesel car. only did it in the higher gears when going fast(ish). Check your coolant level aswell. The tapping is basically the engine overheating. Nah it does it straightaway from startup before the engine's even hot
