March 27, 200620 yr i had my jt350 stolen last week,imlooking to buy a 99 315 montesa,can anyone tell me the differences between the years so i know its a99 model and also will there be a lot of power loss between the gasgas and the montesa,cheers
March 28, 200620 yr From what I remember the performance of the engines are very similar i.e torquey. The 99 montesa was the only 315 to have black forks . As usual I am willing to be corrected on these points
March 28, 200620 yr Then corrected you shall be!! My 99 didn't have black forks,,, ah i see what you mean, black fork stanctions, sorry. Silver bottoms, black sliders, right enough!! 99 also had black exhaust front pipe, but this may have been updated to a chrome one at a later date. The 2000-2004 on had multi coloured fork sliders. 99 also had a carbon effect tank, and a black rear mudguard, but again, this may have been updated at a later stage. Hope this helps
March 30, 200620 yr Ok, Ok..I couldn't spell 'stanctions'. My mates have had a lot of 315s over the years and I recall the 99 was very pokey compared to the 98,2000,2001,2002. It may have been that the previous owner had tweaked it in some way , I just don't know! My personal favourite was my second hand 98 : Excellent for learning on(dropping) , gripped like a limpet and required very little maintenance. I dropped it on rocks..logs..steps..me..it fell off the bike rack at speed..I fell in a river with it (fully submerged and engine running), field stripped it and carried on riding.
